The VEVOR XRS030 is a pocket hole jig kit for woodworking. A pocket hole jig guides a drill at an angle so you can join two boards with screws that sit hidden inside the wood. It is a popular way to build face frames, cabinets, shelves and furniture without visible fasteners.
What a pocket hole joint is
A pocket hole is an angled hole drilled into the edge or back of one board, ending in a flat-bottomed pocket for the screw head. The screw then runs into the second board and pulls the joint tight. The jig keeps the angle and depth consistent, which is hard to do by hand. Plugs can cover the holes afterwards if they would otherwise show.
Construction
VEVOR says the jig is CNC-machined from aluminium alloy, with a smooth, wear-proof and rust-proof surface. It says the sturdy build keeps wood clamped and avoids movement or misalignment during drilling. A stable jig matters because slippage between the board and the drill is the most common cause of badly positioned holes.
Adjusting depth
The platform adjusts from 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inches (12.7 mm to 38.1 mm). Dual-scale markings show the setting: slide the guide block up or down to match the thickness of your material. As a general guide, the setting follows the stock thickness, so check the markings against the board you are using.
Drill bit and chip ejection
The kit includes a titanium-coated step drill bit, which cuts the pilot hole and the pocket in one pass, together with a depth stop collar that controls how deep the bit goes. VEVOR says this gives consistent drilling with less risk of wood tearing. A chip ejection port helps clear sawdust, so the hole does not clog.
Use with a clamp or on its own
VEVOR says the jig can be used with a clamp to hold boards, or as a standalone drilling tool once you take off the sliding block. This helps with awkward parts and with parts that cannot be held in a standard setup.
What's in the kit
VEVOR lists two step drill bits, two wrenches, two depth stop collars, two square drive bits, and a set of pocket hole screws and plugs. The step drills are used with a power drill, which is not included.
Who it suits
It suits DIY woodworkers, furniture builders and anyone assembling cabinets or frames who wants hidden joints. Beginners get a guide for angle and depth, and experienced woodworkers get a portable second jig.
What to check before you buy
- Your drill: you need a drill or driver that accepts the step bit and the square drive.
- Stock thickness: confirm your boards fall inside the 1/2 to 1-1/2 inch range.
- Screws: use screws suited to your wood (softwood, hardwood or plywood) and thickness.
- Clamping: a clamp or bench is needed to hold the work steady.
- Safety: wear eye protection and follow the tool manuals.
