The VEVOR MR-20G is a benchtop machine that re-sharpens twist drill bits from 3 to 20 mm in diameter. A dull bit drills slowly, heats up and wanders; re-grinding the tip restores the cutting edges so one bit can be used many times. The machine holds the bit in a collet at a set angle, so the grinding is repeatable instead of done freehand.

Point angle and lip relief

Two angles define how a bit cuts. The point angle is the angle between the two cutting edges at the tip. The MR-20G adjusts it from 95° to 135°. As a general guide, a wider angle such as 118° to 135° is commonly used for harder metals, while narrower angles suit softer materials; VEVOR says the adjustment lets you match the hole material and rotation speed.

The lip relief angle is the clearance behind each cutting edge, which lets the edge bite instead of rubbing. VEVOR says positioner pins let you set four types of lip relief angle for different needs.

Collets for 3-20 mm bits

The kit includes 18 elastic collets in 1 mm steps from 3 mm to 20 mm, plus two collet chucks. The collet grips the bit while it is presented to the wheel. Match the collet to your bit's exact diameter, as a loose fit would affect accuracy.

CBN and SDC wheels

Two grinding wheels are included, and VEVOR says they swap easily:

  • CBN (cubic boron nitride): the brand says it suits high-speed steel (HSS) bits, which are the most common type in workshops.
  • SDC: the brand says it is for grinding alloy tungsten steel (carbide) materials.

Both are superabrasive wheels, which typically stay sharper and cut cooler than ordinary grinding stones.

Motor and build

A DC motor spins the wheel at 4,500 RPM, which VEVOR says comes with strong torque and low noise. The body uses 45# steel for stability and longevity. It measures about 11.4 x 5.7 x 6.3 inches (29 x 14.5 x 16 cm) and weighs 20.1 lb (about 9.1 kg), so it can sit on a bench or be moved between work areas.

Who it suits

VEVOR lists factories, workshops, garages and home DIY. It is most useful where a person drills often enough that replacement bits add up: metalworking shops, maintenance teams and keen hobbyists. For the occasional drilling job, buying a new bit may be simpler.

What to check before you buy

  • Bit sizes: confirm your bits fall between 3 and 20 mm.
  • Bit material: check whether you need the CBN or the SDC wheel.
  • Angles: know the point angle your usual work calls for.
  • Technique: sharpening takes practice; follow the manual and check the result on a test hole.
  • Protection: wear eye protection and follow the manual's guidance on dust and sparks.
  • Wheel wear: ask about wheel life and replacement.

The short version

  • A benchtop sharpener for 3-20 mm drill bits.
  • Point angle adjustable from 95° to 135°; four lip relief options.
  • 18 collets, two collet chucks, plus CBN and SDC wheels.
  • DC motor at 4,500 RPM; 20.1 lb.
