The VEVOR SKL300 is a retrofit cyclone separator for wet/dry vacuums and dust collectors. It sits between the hose and the vacuum, catching most of the dust and debris in its own container before it reaches the vacuum's filter. That keeps the filter cleaner for longer, which is a common reason woodworkers add one.

How a cyclone separator works

Air carrying dust enters the separator at an angle and spins around the inside of a cone. The heavier particles are thrown outwards, lose speed and fall into the collection container, while the cleaner air continues up and out towards the vacuum. VEVOR says the SKL300 captures dust with a separation rate of up to 99.61%, and that this reduces how often the vacuum's filter needs replacing. That is the brand's figure, and real results depend on the material, the airflow and the vacuum it's paired with.

Clear body for easy monitoring

The separator is made of ABS plastic with a fully transparent design. You can see the collection filling without opening anything, so you know when it's time to empty it. Emptying before it's full typically keeps airflow strong.

Hose sizes and connections

VEVOR gives the inlet and outlet a 3.81-inch (97 mm) diameter, intended for 4-inch (101.6 mm) commercial hoses. The 4-inch hoses are not included. A 1.97-inch (50 mm) adapter is also supplied so it can be used with 2-inch household vacuum hoses, and a 2-inch hose is part of the kit. The listing mentions a 2-inch hole outer diameter connector for wet/dry vacuums.

What's in the kit

VEVOR says the set comes with several attachments and a wrench, intended to make installation straightforward. The collection tank is not included: VEVOR states the separator fits a 5 to 10 gallon tank, which you supply, such as a bucket or drum of that size. Make sure the container is sturdy and can seal properly against the separator.

Size and weight

The unit measures about 16.7 x 13.2 x 13.2 inches (42 x 34 x 34 cm) and weighs around 7.0 lb (3.2 kg), before adding a tank.

Who it suits

It suits woodworkers, hobbyists and anyone cutting or sanding material who already owns a wet/dry vacuum and wants to cut how often they clean or replace its filter. It also fits those with a 4-inch dust collection hose setup. Cyclone separators handle fine sawdust and larger debris, though the finest dust can still reach the vacuum's filter, so keep that filter in place.

What to check before you buy

  • Hose size: work out whether your setup uses 2-inch or 4-inch hoses, and buy 4-inch hose separately if needed.
  • Tank: you must supply a 5 to 10 gallon container, so check it fits the separator's connection.
  • Vacuum compatibility: confirm your vacuum's inlet suits the connectors or the adapter.
  • Airflow: adding a separator and longer hoses usually reduces suction slightly, so follow the manual.
  • Material: check the manual on what it should and shouldn't collect, such as hot embers or liquids.
  • Emptying: plan where you'll dispose of the collected dust.
