This VEVOR hydraulic power unit combines a 12V DC motor, a pump and a 6-quart tank in one pre-assembled package. It is a double-acting unit, meaning it can drive a cylinder in both directions. VEVOR lists uses such as dump trailers, lifting platforms, small presses and wood splitters, so it is mainly a component for builders and equipment owners rather than a stand-alone tool.

Motor, flow and pressure

VEVOR gives a 12V, 1.6 kW DC motor, a flow rate of up to 0.91 GPM and a maximum relief pressure of 3,200 psi (16 to 20 MPa). In hydraulics, pressure times piston area gives force, and flow determines speed. A lower flow rate such as this means a cylinder moves fairly slowly, while pressure sets how much it can push or lift. A 1.6 kW motor at 12V draws a high current, typically well over 100 amps at full load, so the battery and cabling must be sized accordingly; check the manual for requirements.

What double-acting means

In a single-acting setup, pressure extends the cylinder and gravity or a spring returns it. A double-acting unit sends oil to either port, so the cylinder is pushed out and pulled back under power. VEVOR says oil works alternately in both ports and distributes force evenly. This helps with equipment that must be driven in both directions, such as tailgates, tail lifts and presses.

Safety relief valve

The unit has a built-in relief valve, which opens when pressure exceeds the set limit and lets oil bypass instead of building up. That protects the pump and hoses. Relief valves are not a replacement for correct component pressure limits, so every hose, fitting and cylinder in the circuit should be rated for at least the system pressure.

Setup and connections

VEVOR says the unit arrives pre-assembled. You add hydraulic oil, connect the power supply and tubing, and it is ready to use. An SAE #6 connector is included, which VEVOR says suits both metric and American interfaces. Confirm the thread type and size you need on your cylinders and lines.

Build

The tank is solid steel with a rust-proof finish according to VEVOR, and the unit has overall sealing to reduce the risk of oil leaks. It measures about 18.9 × 7.3 × 7.5 inches (roughly 48 × 19 × 19 cm) and weighs 28.5 lb (about 13 kg).

Who it suits

It suits trailer owners and builders adding or replacing a hydraulic lift, hobbyists building presses or lifting platforms, and anyone repairing equipment with a similar 12V hydraulic system. Because it is a power unit only, you also need cylinders, hoses and fittings.

What to check before you buy

  • Cylinder size: confirm the cylinder's bore and stroke suit 0.91 GPM and the pressure you need.
  • Electrical supply: check the battery capacity, cable gauge and switch or solenoid current limits for a 1.6 kW motor.
  • Ports and fittings: match thread sizes to your hoses and cylinders.
  • Oil: use the hydraulic oil type the manual specifies.
  • Duty cycle: small DC motors are often rated for short, intermittent runs, so check run time limits.
  • Load safety: support raised loads properly with mechanical stops, and follow the manual and local rules.
  • Mounting: make sure the tank orientation and space on your trailer or frame work.

The short version

  • 12V, 1.6 kW pre-assembled hydraulic power unit with a 6-quart steel tank.
  • Double-acting, with up to 0.91 GPM flow and 3,200 psi maximum relief pressure.
  • Built-in safety relief valve and an SAE #6 connector.
  • Weighs 28.5 lb; suited to trailers, lifts, presses and similar equipment.
  • Needs hydraulic oil, cylinders, tubing and a suitable power supply.
