The VEVOR 10 Quart Hydraulic Power Unit is an electric pump, motor and oil tank combined in one assembled package. Its job is to supply pressurised hydraulic oil to a lift or other cylinder-driven machine. VEVOR positions it for car lifts, small and medium lifting platforms, and as a replacement pump for remote hydraulic systems.

What a hydraulic power unit does

A hydraulic system moves a load by pushing oil into a cylinder. The power unit is the part that creates that flow: an electric motor drives a pump, the pump draws oil from the reservoir and sends it out under pressure, and the cylinder extends. Everything else, such as hoses, fittings, valves and the lift itself, is separate and has to be matched to the unit.

This model is described as fully assembled in advance, with wiring that VEVOR calls simple and operating instructions included. Extra connectors are supplied for replacement.

The motor and the tank

The motor runs on 220V single-phase power and is rated at 2.2 kW, which VEVOR's title also expresses as 3HP. The reservoir holds 10 litres (the 10 quarts in the name is the same size in US terms) and is made of steel. A larger tank generally means more oil available for a longer stroke and better heat dissipation during repeated use, while still keeping the whole unit fairly compact. The unit measures about 28.3 x 8.9 x 9.2 inches (roughly 72 x 23 x 23 cm) and weighs 43.6 lb (about 20 kg).

Single-acting: power up, gravity down

"Single-acting" is the key term. The pump pushes the cylinder up, and the load comes back down by gravity when a valve releases the oil to the tank. There is no powered return stroke. This is how most car lifts and many small lifting platforms work, and it is the reason this unit is suited to them. It would not suit a machine that needs the cylinder driven in both directions, which calls for a double-acting arrangement.

Relief valve and maximum pressure

VEVOR gives a maximum relief pressure of 2950 PSI (about 203 bar). A relief valve opens when the system pressure reaches its set limit, sending oil back to the tank rather than letting pressure climb further. This protects the hoses, cylinder and pump. The cylinder, hoses and fittings in your system should all be built for at least the pressure the unit can produce.

Where it fits

VEVOR lists car lifts, small and medium lifting platforms, and compatibility with many dump trailers and movers as typical uses. In each case the unit is a direct replacement for the existing hydraulic power source, so it is worth checking how the original unit was connected and what voltage and cylinder size it was designed for.

What to check before you buy

  • Electrical supply: it needs a 220V single-phase supply. Check the circuit, plug and protection with a qualified electrician, and follow local electrical codes.
  • Cylinder and hose match: confirm that the cylinder volume, hose pressure limits and port sizes suit a 10-litre tank and 2950 PSI maximum.
  • Single-acting design: make sure your lift releases its load by gravity rather than needing powered return.
  • Oil: check the manual for the recommended hydraulic oil type and fill level.
  • Space and mounting: allow for a unit about 28 inches long and a weight of roughly 44 lb.
  • Lifting safety: anything that raises a vehicle or person should follow the lift manufacturer's instructions, including the use of mechanical locks or stands as specified.

The short version

  • An assembled single-phase 220V, 2.2 kW hydraulic power unit with a 10-litre steel reservoir.
  • Single-acting: powered lift, gravity-assisted lowering.
  • Maximum relief pressure of 2950 PSI, with a relief valve built in.
  • Aimed at car lifts, small and medium lifting platforms, dump trailers and movers.
  • About 43.6 lb; check voltage, cylinder match and the manual before installing.
