The monTEK TM1014W is an articulating wall mount for TVs from 50 to 100 inches, rated for up to 165 lb. It pulls the screen away from the wall, turns it and tilts it, then folds back flat. It suits living rooms and open-plan spaces where a large TV serves more than one seating area.

What the motion range gives you

The mount extends 25 inches, tilts +5° to -15° and swivels ±60°. It also has ±3° of leveling, which lets you correct the TV if it ends up slightly crooked after you hang it. When retracted, it sits 2.7 inches from the wall.

In practice, the extension helps if the TV is in a corner or beside a chimney breast and you want to pull it into the room. The swivel lets you turn the screen toward a sofa, a kitchen island or a dining table, and the downward tilt reduces glare, which matters most when the TV is mounted higher than eye level.

Build and weight limit

monTEK says the mount uses high-strength sheet metal, with a 3 mm wall plate and 2 mm articulating arms, plus reinforced 40×25×1.5 mm tubes. It is rated for flat and curved TVs up to 165 lb and, according to the brand, stress-tested to twice that capacity. As with any wall mount, use the rated figure as the limit and not the test figure, and include any attached soundbar or accessories in the weight.

VESA and curved TVs

VESA is the standard hole spacing on the back of a TV. This mount covers 200×200 mm up to 800×600 mm, and monTEK says it fits flat-screen OLED and curved TVs from the major brands. Check your TV's manual for the VESA pattern and weight before buying.

Cable management

Built-in channels along the arms guide cables so they don't tangle as the arms move. This keeps the area behind the TV tidy, and it's useful with a full-motion mount because the cables flex each time you move the screen. Leave enough slack at the connections for the full 25 inches.

Installation

The package includes the mounting accessories, a bubble level, step-by-step instructions and pre-labelled hardware. The hardware is for wood studs at 16", 18" and 24" spacing, as well as concrete or brick walls. monTEK notes that it shouldn't be installed on drywall alone. The mount weighs 24.2 lb, and a 100-inch TV is heavy and awkward, so plan on a helper. Follow the manual and local building codes.

Who it suits

It suits people with a large TV who want to adjust its angle, such as families with different seating spots, or homeowners with a TV in a corner. It's more than needed if the TV stays facing one direction; a tilting or fixed mount is slimmer and simpler there.

What to check before you buy

  • TV details: size from 50 to 100 inches, weight up to 165 lb and VESA 200×200 to 800×600 mm.
  • Wall construction: wood studs at 16", 18" or 24", concrete or brick; not drywall alone.
  • Clearance: make sure the full 25-inch extension and swivel won't hit furniture or a doorway.
  • Height: pick where the centre of the screen should land when seated.
  • Cables: leave slack for the whole range of movement.
  • Helpers: have a second person for lifting.
