The LaserPecker 4 (model LP4-Super) is a compact laser engraver that carries two different lasers in one machine. This package adds a rotary extension for round objects, a slide extension for a larger work area and a protective cover. It's aimed at crafters, jewellery makers and small shops that personalise items.
Two lasers, different materials
LaserPecker describes the LP4 as a dual laser engraver, pairing a diode laser with a pulsed infrared laser. In general, the two suit different jobs. A diode laser works well on organic materials, and the brand lists wood, leather, glass and ceramics for it. An infrared laser has a wavelength that metals and many plastics absorb, so LaserPecker lists it for all metals and plastics. It also says the machine can cut 8 mm wood and 5 mm acrylic, and handle rust removal and overglaze work.
Having both in one body means fewer machines on a workbench, though results always depend on the material and the settings.
Work area and the slide extension
LaserPecker says the slide extension expands the working size to 160 x 300 mm. It also says the machine can engrave multiple pieces at the same time, which helps when making small batches of tags, pendants or coasters.
The rotary extension
Flat engraving is only part of the story. The rotary extension turns round or curved objects while they're engraved. LaserPecker lists bottles, mugs, tumblers, rings and vases as examples. A rotary attachment typically rotates the item under the laser so the design wraps around it, and the diameter and shape of the object affect what fits.
A flexible, compact body
The structure can be adjusted to any angle, which LaserPecker says means the shape, size and height of the item aren't limited in the way they are on fixed-bed machines. Its small footprint suits a home workshop, a studio or a market stall where customers wait for custom pieces.
Protection and the safety cover
Lasers can damage eyes, so protection matters. The package includes a cover that LaserPecker says filters both laser types: 190-550 nm (violet and blue light) and 800-1100 nm (infrared). A built-in Hall sensor pauses the job when the door opens and resumes when it closes. A smoke exhaustion fan in the cover helps extract the smoke and smell produced during engraving. Even so, follow the manual closely, use any recommended eyewear, and work in a ventilated space. Some materials give off harmful fumes when lasered, so check what is safe to process.
Who it suits
It suits hobbyists making personalised gifts, small businesses customising mugs and jewellery, and anyone who wants metal and wood engraving from one portable machine.
What to check before you buy
- Your materials: match the items you plan to engrave with the lasers the brand lists.
- Object size: check rotary extension limits for diameter and height against your mugs, bottles or rings.
- Work area: confirm the 160 x 300 mm slide-extension size covers your projects.
- Software: check which apps and operating systems the machine uses.
- Ventilation and safety: plan where the smoke goes, and follow the manual and any local rules.
- Parts: check what's in the box and how spare parts are supplied.
