The LaserPecker 4 Deluxe (model LP4-Deluxe) is a compact desktop laser engraver that combines two lasers in one machine. The Deluxe set includes a rotary extension for round objects and a slide extension for a larger work area. It is aimed at makers, small studios and businesses that personalise items such as mugs, jewellery and leather goods.
Two lasers, different materials
LaserPecker says the LP4 integrates an infrared laser and a diode laser. In general, these lasers behave differently:
- Infrared laser: LaserPecker lists it for all metals and plastics. Infrared light is absorbed well by metals, which is why it is used for marking them.
- Diode laser: listed for wood, leather, glass, ceramics and similar materials. It also handles cutting, with LaserPecker quoting 8 mm wood and 5 mm acrylic.
The brand adds that rust removal and overglaze work are possible. Cutting capacity depends on material, so treat the thickness figures as the brand's maximums.
Accuracy and speed
LaserPecker states engraving precision of 8K (1270 dpi) and a galvanometer scanning system with speeds up to 240,000 mm/min. A galvanometer steers the beam with small mirrors rather than moving a heavy head, which typically allows fast, detailed marking. DPI describes how many dots per inch are placed, so higher figures can produce finer image detail.
Rotary and slide extensions
The rotary extension turns round or curved items, such as bottles, mugs, tumblers, rings and vases, so the pattern wraps around them. The slide extension enlarges the working area to 160 x 300 mm, according to LaserPecker, and lets you engrave several pieces in one run. The structure can also be adjusted to any angle, so the size and height of the object is less restricted.
Software
LaserPecker provides free smartphone and PC apps with multi-layer editing, adjustable engraving settings and support for importing multiple file formats. The apps recommend settings for different materials, which helps beginners. It is also compatible with LightBurn, a popular program with more advanced controls.
Size and weight
The listing shows about 20 x 10.5 x 16.5 inches and 22 lb, small enough for a worktable at home or a studio counter.
What to check before you buy
- The materials you want to mark or cut, matched against the laser type.
- Whether the 160 x 300 mm work area covers your largest pieces.
- Eye protection and ventilation. Lasers need careful handling, so follow the manufacturer's safety guidance and local rules.
- Your computer or phone and the software you plan to use.
- Space for the machine, the extensions and your material.
- Whether you need extra fixtures for odd-shaped items.
