The DEWENWILS DL-615 is a hand-cranked extension cord reel with 80 feet of cord and four built-in outlets. It is meant for garages, workshops and backyards, where a long cord is handy but needs to be stored neatly afterwards. A built-in circuit breaker and a metal stand round out the design.
The cord: 14/3 SJTW
The cord is 80 ft (about 24 m) of 14/3 SJTW. In general, "14/3" means three conductors of 14 gauge: hot, neutral and ground. "SJTW" is a cord type usually described as jacketed, thermoplastic and weather-resistant. DEWENWILS says it offers wear and weather resistance for indoor and outdoor use, but the listing specifies dry locations, so it is not meant to sit in standing water.
Winding and unwinding
You pull the cord out by hand and wind it back with a round grip crank handle. Because the crank is manual, there is no spring mechanism, so the cord stays at whatever length you leave it. DEWENWILS says this keeps cords tidy for next time. The reel measures about 12.6 x 11.4 x 7.6 inches (32 x 29 x 19 cm) and weighs 11.1 lb (about 5 kg).
Four grounded outlets
There are four three-prong outlets, spaced so that plugs shouldn't crowd each other. The listed figure is 13A, 125V, 1625W for the whole reel. The brand warns not to exceed this. Power tools, compressors and heaters can draw a lot, so adding up the wattage on the labels is a sensible step before plugging in several at once.
Overload protection
A 13A circuit breaker cuts power when the total current of connected devices goes over 13A. After it trips, you press the button to reset and continue. The breaker is a protection against overloads and short circuits, though it is not a replacement for sensible loading. A long cord that is partly wound can also build up heat, so unwinding most of it before heavy loads is a common recommendation; follow the manual's instructions on this.
Stand and portability
The metal stand keeps the reel upright, and a grip handle helps carry it between a job site and the garage. The listing states ETL listing for quality and safety.
What to check before you buy
- Your total load against the 13A/1625W limit.
- Indoor or dry-location use only, as the listing describes.
- Where it will live: is there room for a reel of this size, on a wall, shelf or floor?
- Whether 80 ft is enough, or too long, for your space.
- Cord condition over time. Inspect for cuts and wear before use.
- Follow the manual and local electrical codes.
