The typecase keyboard case (model KB201T-129) is built to make a 13-inch or 12.9-inch iPad work more like a laptop. It adds a multi-touch trackpad, backlit keys and a 360° rotating hinge, and it protects the tablet front and back. Here is which iPads it fits, what its features do, and what to confirm before ordering one.
Which iPads it fits
typecase lists three groups of compatible tablets:
- iPad Pro 13-inch: the M5 (2025) and M4 (2024) models.
- iPad Air 13-inch: the M4 (2026), M3 (2025) and M2 (2024) models.
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch: the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th generations.
Cases for large iPads are very model-specific, because camera bumps, button positions and thickness change between generations. typecase asks buyers to check the model number first. On the iPad, it appears under Settings, General, About, as a code starting with "A".
The trackpad and shortcut keys
The multi-touch trackpad handles cursor control, swiping, scrolling, selecting and editing text, and switching between apps. Recent iPad software supports trackpads with gestures similar to a laptop's, so moving around documents and web pages no longer means reaching for the screen. A row of shortcut keys controls common iPad functions.
Backlit keys
The keys are backlit in 11 colours, with three brightness levels shown in typecase's images. That helps when typing in dim rooms, on flights, in lecture halls or late at night. Backlighting typically uses more battery on keyboards that have their own, so lower brightness settings are worth using when you are away from a charger.
The 360° hinge and seven modes
The rotating hinge lets the screen swing all the way round while the keyboard stays attached. typecase describes seven modes, covering typing, drawing, reading, viewing, presenting and browsing. Folded back, the iPad can be used like a tablet for sketching or reading; turned round, it can face someone across a table.
typecase gives a stable working angle of up to 135°: within that range, the screen is meant to stay put for laptop-style typing on a desk or a lap.
Protection and pencil holder
A hard shell covers the back of the iPad, the keyboard covers the screen when closed, and an anti-slip fit keeps the tablet steady in the case. typecase's images point to corner, scratch and camera protection. A built-in holder keeps a stylus pencil with the iPad, which is handy for note-takers and anyone who sketches.
A keyboard case with a hinge and hard shell adds noticeable weight and thickness compared with the tablet alone, so the pair will feel closer to a small laptop in a bag.
Who it suits
It suits students taking notes in class, remote workers who type long documents, and creators who switch between typing and drawing on one device. It is less suited to anyone who mostly uses the iPad as a light handheld tablet.

- Weight: expect the case to add noticeable weight to the tablet.
