The Soundcore V20i (model A3876) is a pair of open-ear Bluetooth earbuds. Instead of sealing the ear canal, the speakers sit just outside it, held in place by adjustable ear hooks. This design is meant for people who want music or calls while still hearing their surroundings. Here is what the main specs mean.

What open-ear means

Conventional earbuds block the ear canal, which isolates you from the world. Open-ear designs leave it free. Soundcore says this gives non-intrusive comfort for all-day wear and keeps you aware of what is around you, whether in the city or outdoors. The trade-off, in general, is that open-ear speakers leak more sound and give less bass and less isolation in noisy places than sealed earbuds.

Adjustable fit

Each ear hook can be rotated into four positions. Soundcore says this lets you find the most stable and comfortable position, which matters if you move around a lot. Because they rest on the ear rather than inside it, hooks like these can also suit people who find in-ear tips uncomfortable.

Sound

The V20i has 16mm drivers with titanium-coated domes and Soundcore's BassUp technology, which analyses low frequencies and strengthens them. Soundcore describes the sound as rich and resonant with deep bass, but open-ear earbuds usually sound lighter in the low end than sealed ones.

Calls

Four microphones and an AI algorithm are used for call clarity, according to Soundcore. Bluetooth 5.4 and multipoint connection are listed, so the earbuds can stay connected to two devices and switch between them.

Battery and durability

The brand quotes up to 36 hours of playtime, and lists an IP55 grade. An IP55 device is typically protected against dust ingress and water jets, though the grade doesn't mean it can be submerged. Check the manual for what it covers.

Customisable lights

The earbuds have tune-synced, personalised lights, which Soundcore presents as a style feature. You can adjust them through the companion app.

Size

The earbuds measure about 1.6 x 2.0 x 0.5 inches (4 x 5 x 1.3 cm) as listed and weigh around 0.2 lb in total.

Who they suit

They suit runners, walkers, cyclists in places where riding with headphones is allowed, and office workers who want to hear colleagues. They are less suited to noisy trains or planes, where sealed earbuds with noise cancelling give more isolation.

What to check before you buy

  • Local rules: some places limit headphone use while cycling or driving.
  • Ear shape and glasses: hooks sit behind the ear, so check comfort with glasses or hats.
  • Sound expectations: open-ear designs differ from sealed earbuds in bass and isolation.
  • Water protection: read the manual for what IP55 covers.
  • Devices: confirm your phone supports Bluetooth and the Soundcore app.
