The Lockly Vision Latch (model PGD698LLSN) is a smart door lock with a built-in video camera and doorbell. It adds several ways to open the door, a camera you can view from your phone and a Wi-Fi hub for remote features. Here is what it offers and what to confirm for your door.

Ways to unlock

Lockly lists a wide range of methods: fingerprint, phone app, the patented keypad, a QR code, RFID cards and a physical key. Offering several options means a dead phone or a forgotten key doesn't have to lock you out.

Fingerprint sensor

The fingerprint reader recognises a finger in under 0.3 seconds and unlocks in under 0.5 seconds, according to Lockly. Biometric sensors work by comparing a scan with stored fingerprint patterns, so setup involves enrolling each person.

PIN Genie keypad

The patented PIN Genie keypad is described as peek-proof. The digits shuffle after each use, so someone watching from the side can't easily work out your code from finger positions.

Camera and doorbell

A Full HD camera (720P or 1080P) streams live video to your phone for remote monitoring and video calls, so you can see and speak to visitors from anywhere. Streaming relies on the included Wi-Fi hub and your home network, so a stable connection matters.

RFID cards and scan-to-open

Three RFID tag keys are included for people without smartphones, such as children, older relatives or staff. Revocable Scan-to-Open lets approved users scan a blue QR code through the Lockly app, and access can be granted or revoked in the app.

Offline Access Codes

Offline Access Codes let you create and manage guest codes remotely without an internet connection, which Lockly says keeps guest access working during outages.

Handing and installation

The latch can be set up for left- or right-swing doors. Lockly says it works with most standard doors and includes an installation guide and the tools needed. Measure your door and follow the instructions, including the door preparation and any local codes.

Who it suits

It suits households who want keyless entry and a camera at the door in one device, including those with several people or regular visitors.

What to check before you buy

  • Door fit: confirm thickness, handing and the existing hole layout against the installation guide.
  • Wi-Fi: remote video and alerts need the hub and a stable connection.
  • Power: check the battery type and how the lock behaves when it runs low, in the manual.
  • Users: decide who needs a fingerprint, card or code.
  • Fire and building codes: check any rules that apply to your door or building.
  • Backup access: keep the physical key somewhere safe.

  • Fingerprint (under 0.3 s), PIN Genie keypad, app, QR code, RFID cards and key.
