The eMACROS Pro 3 is a wireless driveway alarm made of an outdoor motion sensor and an indoor receiver. When the sensor detects movement, the receiver sounds a chime and the phone app sends a push notification. The sensor is solar powered, so it can sit at the end of a drive or beside a shed without wiring.
How the system is set up
The system has two parts. The sensor goes outdoors and detects motion up to 30 feet (about 9 metres) away. The receiver goes indoors and plugs in via USB-C. eMACROS notes that the package includes only a data cable, so you need your own 5V 1A adapter. Setup connects the receiver to Wi-Fi through Bluetooth in the app. eMACROS says it works only on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, not 5GHz. The brand also points to an install video in the product images.
Range
eMACROS says the sensor can be placed up to 1,500 feet (roughly 450 metres) from the receiver, and its description mentions up to half a mile depending on the model. The listing says it can pass through obstacles, so it can work in basements, garages and sheds. Real range depends on terrain, buildings and trees, so treat these as best-case figures from the brand.
Solar power
The sensor contains a built-in 18650 rechargeable battery, charged by the solar panel, so eMACROS says there is no battery to replace. Placement matters: a sensor in constant shade will charge less than one that gets daylight.
Alerts
Alerts arrive as push notifications in the My Hosmart app. The receiver has four alert melodies and a loud, adjustable volume. The description also says the receiver can run on four AA batteries as a backup during a power outage. You can match different chimes to different sensors to tell where the movement is.
Weatherproofing
The sensor is rated IP66 and has a fully enclosed design. IP66 generally means it is dust-tight and protected against strong water jets, which suits rain and snow, though mounting and sealing still matter.
Expandable coverage
eMACROS says the system supports up to four zones, with up to four sensors per zone, and extra receivers can be added around the house or garage. That suits a long driveway with a gate, a side path and a workshop.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners with a long drive or outbuildings who want to know when someone or something enters the property. It is a notification aid rather than a full security system, so it does not replace locks, lighting or an alarm service.
What to check before you buy
- Wi-Fi: confirm your network offers 2.4GHz and that it reaches the receiver.
- Power adapter: have a 5V 1A adapter ready, since none is included.
- Placement: choose a sensor position with daylight and a clear view of the area. The 30-foot detection range applies.
- False triggers: animals, wind-blown branches and passing traffic can set off a motion sensor, so aim it carefully.
- Warranty and support: eMACROS describes a two-year warranty and a return window, subject to its terms.
- Manual: follow it for mounting and the app steps.
