The eufy Security NVR System E50 (model T7100) is a wired surveillance kit built around a network video recorder and four PoE cameras. Each camera has two lenses: a fixed wide-angle one that watches constantly and a pan-tilt-zoom one that zooms in on movement. Here is what that means and who the setup is for.
Two lenses in one camera
The upper lens is a 2K fixed lens with a 115° view and keeps watching the whole scene. The lower lens is a 4K PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) lens with 360° tracking and 5× digital zoom, which eufy says captures detail up to 65 ft (20 m) away. Because both views come from the same camera, you get a wide overview and a close-up without switching screens.
How OmniTrack works
When the wide-angle lens detects activity, eufy's OmniTrack has the PTZ lens lock on and follow the subject, using auto-framing to keep it centred. With several cameras, eufy says cross-camera tracking lets other units adjust to follow a subject when one detects motion.
PoE wiring and 24/7 recording
PoE means Power over Ethernet: a single network cable carries both power and video to each camera. This is why eufy calls the setup plug and play. A wired system doesn't depend on Wi-Fi signal strength or camera batteries, and eufy says it allows 24/7 recording through network or power interruptions of the kinds that affect Wi-Fi or battery cameras. Running cables does take more installation effort than wireless cameras do.
Storage and channels
A 2TB hard drive comes pre-installed and is expandable to 16TB. The NVR supports 8 cameras, and eufy says it can reach 16 channels using a PoE switch.
AI that runs on the device
eufy says all AI processing, including facial recognition, Smart Video Search and cross-camera tracking, runs on the device with no cloud dependency or monthly fees. Smart Video Search lets you look for a person, vehicle, pet or specific face by keyword instead of scrolling through hours of footage. You can also set activity zones and alerts.
Deterrence lights
When a threat is detected, the cameras can trigger high-intensity red and blue warning lights, which eufy presents as a stronger deterrent than a standard white spotlight.
Compatibility note
To connect the E50 PoE camera to the eufy NVR S4 (T8N00), eufy says the S4's firmware must be V4.2.2.8 or above. The kit weighs about 8.5 lb.
Who it suits
It suits homes and small businesses that can run network cable and want continuous recording, local storage and fast searching of footage.
What to check before you buy
- Cable routes: plan how Ethernet will reach each camera location, and the maximum cable length in the manual.
- Mounting: confirm the walls or eaves suit a camera of this size.
- Network: a PoE switch is needed to go beyond the NVR's own camera ports.
- Storage needs: think about how many days of footage you want to keep.
- Privacy rules: check local rules on recording public areas, neighbours and employees.
