The Blackview Wave 8C is an unlocked 4G smartphone running Android 14. It pairs a 6.56-inch screen and a 5000mAh battery with a headphone jack and room for two SIM cards plus a memory card. Here is what those specs mean in daily use and what to confirm before choosing it.

What Android 14 and Google Lens bring

Blackview supplies the phone with Android 14, which includes the personalisation options, privacy settings and wallpaper tools of that release. The brand also highlights Google Lens, which uses the camera to identify objects, translate printed text, find similar products and recognise landmarks or plants. Features like these depend on a data connection and on the software version installed.

Memory and storage, explained

Blackview lists 6GB of RAM, made up of 2GB of physical memory plus 4GB of virtual memory, with 64GB of built-in storage. Virtual memory borrows part of the storage to act as extra RAM. It can help with switching between apps, though it is generally not as quick as physical memory. The octa-core processor is the part that handles everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging and video.

Storage can be expanded with a microSD card. Blackview says the phone accepts cards up to 2TB, which leaves room for photos, music and downloaded files. The card itself is not included.

Battery and screen

The 5000mAh battery is on the larger side for a phone this size. Blackview rates it at up to 26 days of standby and 18 hours of continuous calls. Figures like these are measured under controlled conditions, so real-world time depends on screen brightness, signal strength and the apps you run. Automatic brightness, which the phone supports, typically helps stretch a charge.

The 6.56-inch waterdrop display has a 720 x 1612 resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate and an 89% screen-to-body ratio. That is an HD-class panel: text and video look fine at this size, but it is not as sharp as a full HD screen. The phone is 8.75mm thick and weighs 193g, which Blackview describes as slim and light.

Cameras and unlocking

The rear camera is 13MP and the front camera is 8MP. Blackview lists panorama, night, professional and portrait modes, and video recording at 1080p. Face unlock is included, along with a beauty mode on the front camera.

SIM slots, headphone jack and navigation

Three card slots let you use two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time (SIM and SD cards are not included). A 3.5mm headphone jack means wired headphones plug straight in. Positioning uses GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, which typically improves location accuracy compared with a single system.

Network compatibility

This matters more than any other spec. The phone supports 4G bands including B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B17, B20, B26, B28, B66, B40 and B41, plus 3G and 2G bands. Blackview states it works with GSM-based carriers and is not compatible with CDMA carriers. Before buying, check your carrier's bands and whether it supports unlocked GSM phones. Blackview offers two colours, Dusk Black and Dawn Blue, and a two-year guarantee service.

Who it suits

It suits someone who wants a straightforward Android phone for calls, messaging, maps, browsing and video, and who values a long-lasting battery, dual SIMs and a headphone jack. Demanding games and heavy multitasking are more than a phone with this class of processor and display is typically aimed at.

What to check before you buy

  • Carrier support: confirm your network uses GSM-compatible bands that match the list above.
  • Storage needs: 64GB fills quickly with photos and video; plan on a microSD card if you need more.
  • Screen: an HD-class panel at 60Hz may feel different if you are used to a higher-resolution screen.
  • In the box: SIM cards and memory cards are not included; check the listing for accessories.
  • Support: read the terms of the guarantee Blackview describes.
