The Blackview BV4800 Pro is a rugged Android 14 smartphone designed to survive drops, water and dust. It aims at people who use their phone outdoors or on the job and want durability without carrying a bulky separate case. This page explains its main specs and what to confirm before choosing it.
What the protection codes mean
Blackview lists IP68 and IP69K protection and MIL-STD-810H drop certification. In general, IP68 means dust-tight and able to handle continuous immersion, while IP69K adds resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. MIL-STD-810H is a US military test standard covering things like drops, vibration and temperature. Blackview says the phone withstands drops from 5 m and stays waterproof at 1.5 m for 30 minutes. These are test results under set conditions, so everyday wear and seal condition still matter.
There is also a glove mode, which Blackview says keeps the touchscreen responsive when you wear gloves.
Screen and sound
The display is 6.56 inches with a screen-to-body ratio of up to 83%, a 720 x 1612 resolution and brightness of up to 450 nits. That resolution is modest, adequate for messages, maps and video but not sharp like a flagship panel. It supports 10-point touch, and Blackview mentions a "Smart-K" box speaker for louder sound.
Processor, memory and storage
The phone has an octa-core processor and up to 12GB of RAM, of which 8GB is virtual memory, meaning part of the storage is used to extend RAM. Virtual RAM can help keep more apps open, though it is slower than physical memory. Internal storage is 128GB, and a dedicated microSD slot accepts cards up to 2TB.
Battery
The 5180mAh battery is on the larger side of typical phone batteries, though not as big as in some rugged models. Actual life depends on screen use, signal and apps.
Software and security
It runs Android 14 with Blackview's Doke OS 4.0, which the brand says adds call recording, exercise tracking and real-time video subtitles. Unlocking is by fingerprint or face, and NFC is included for contactless payments where supported. Navigation covers GPS, Beidou, GLONASS and Galileo.
SIM cards and networks
The phone takes two nano-SIMs plus a microSD card (none included). Blackview states it supports GSM carriers and lists 4G bands B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B12, B13, B17, B26, B66, B28, B40 and B41, along with 3G and 2G bands. It says it is not compatible with CDMA carriers. The listing also mentions a different model name in its network note, so confirm the exact model and bands with the seller.
Who it suits
It suits outdoor workers, campers, and anyone who wants a tough phone with a decent battery and removable storage, and who accepts a plainer screen and a thicker body.
What to check before you buy
- Bands: compare the listed bands with your carrier's, and confirm it isn't CDMA-only.
- SIM layout: decide whether you want two SIMs and a memory card at once.
- Size and weight: try to compare dimensions with your current phone.
- Display: 450 nits can be hard to read in strong sunlight.
- Updates: ask how long security updates are provided.
- Warranty: Blackview mentions a two-year guarantee; read the terms.
