The Blackview SE60L is a smart door lock that combines a deadbolt with a lever handle and a fingerprint reader. It can be opened by fingerprint, PIN code, phone app, electronic key or a physical key. It is intended for a front door at home or for rental properties where codes need to be shared.

Five ways to unlock

Blackview lists five entry methods: fingerprint, password, app, eKey and mechanical key. Having a physical key as a fallback is useful if the batteries run low. In general, a keypad and fingerprint reader also mean there is no key to lose or copy.

Fingerprints and codes

Blackview says the lock stores up to 50 fingerprints and more than 250 PIN codes, and recognises a fingerprint in under 2 seconds. It also supports administrator and sharing roles. Those capacities suit a household, and they are why Blackview says the lock is suited to short-term rentals.

App control and temporary codes

Through the Blackview Security app, the lock logs unlock events and wrong-code attempts. It can generate timed, permanent, one-time or custom passcodes for guests, housekeepers or employees. Blackview says one-time codes can even be created remotely. Features that work remotely typically depend on the lock's Bluetooth link and may need a nearby phone or a separate gateway, so check the manual for what is needed.

Auto-lock

You can set the lock to re-lock after 10 to 90 seconds, or press once for motorised locking. This helps if you often wonder whether the door was locked.

Build and certification

The cylinder is zinc alloy, and Blackview says it withstands 100J of metal impact. The lock is listed as BHMA certified at ANSI Grade 3 and as having passed a 200,000-use test. Grade 3 is the lightest of the three ANSI/BHMA residential grades, so consider that against your door's security needs.

Installation

Blackview says you need only a screwdriver and about 15 minutes, with video and printed instructions. Door preparation matters: the lock needs a standard door thickness and bore size, and the manual lists the requirements.

Warranty and support

Blackview lists an 18-month warranty, lifetime technical support and email support. Terms vary by region, so confirm them with the seller.

Who it suits

It suits households that want keyless entry, families with children who forget keys, and hosts who share codes with guests or cleaners.

What to check before you buy

  • Door preparation: confirm door thickness, bore and backset against the manual.
  • Handing: check whether the lever suits a left- or right-hand door.
  • Power: see which batteries it uses and how a dead battery is handled.
  • Phone support: confirm the app works with your phone's operating system.
  • Fire or building rules: some doors need approved hardware; check local requirements.
