The ASUS TUF Gaming GT501 is a mid-tower computer case that takes motherboards up to EATX size. It is a roomy, metal-framed case with a tempered-glass side, built for gaming PCs that need good airflow or a custom liquid-cooling loop, and with handles that make it easier to carry to a LAN event.

Build and appearance

The chassis and panels are metal, with a custom TUF gaming spatter pattern. The side panel is 4mm-thick smoked tempered glass with a full view of the inside, so the parts and any lighting are on display. Tempered glass is heavier and more scratch-resistant than acrylic, but it can break if hit, so handle it with care.

The listing gives a weight of 26.2 lb (about 11.9 kg). Its dimension figures are not reliable, so check the manufacturer's specification for the case's real height, width and depth before planning a desk or shelf.

Fans and airflow

ASUS includes three 120mm fans with Aura Sync RGB lighting and one 140mm rear PWM fan. PWM fans can have their speed adjusted by the motherboard according to temperature. There are up to seven optional fan-mounting points, and the description says the case has room for seven 120mm fans in total. Magnetic dust filters are listed, which are typically easy to remove and clean. Dust builds up in any case over time, so plan to clean them from time to time.

Liquid cooling support

The case is described as custom liquid-cooling ready. It supports top or front mounted 360mm radiators and a rear mounted 140mm radiator, with pre-drilled mounting holes for a water pump and reservoir. A 360mm radiator is large, and fitting one means checking clearance against the motherboard, memory and any top-mounted parts. Check the manual for the exact limits.

Expansion and storage

The case has seven traditional expansion slots, plus a vertical GPU expansion slot. A vertical mount lets you show a graphics card side-on through the glass, though it needs a compatible riser cable, which you should confirm separately. The description also lists seven drive bays and a USB 3.0 front panel.

Carrying

Ergonomic woven-cotton carry handles are fitted, and ASUS says they support safe transport up to 65 lb (about 29.5 kg). That makes it easier to move a loaded PC, though it's still wise to support the base.

Who it suits

It suits builders of high-end gaming or workstation PCs who want room for an EATX board, several fans or a custom loop, and a clear view of the build. It is a large case, so it is a poor fit for a tight desk.

What to check before you buy

  • Space: confirm the actual dimensions fit your desk or cabinet.
  • Motherboard size: check that your board is EATX, ATX or smaller and that the layout matches the case.
  • Cooler and radiator clearance: compare your parts with the manual's maximum sizes.
  • Graphics card length: large cards need room, and vertical mounting needs a riser.
  • Fan headers: make sure the motherboard has enough headers or a hub for the fans you add.
  • Glass panel: handle it carefully when removing it for maintenance.
