The ASUS A31 is a black ATX mid-tower PC case with glass on two sides and no corner pillar, so the inside of the build is on show. It is designed around tidy cabling, liquid-cooler support and room for large graphics cards. Here is what its main features mean and what to confirm before planning a build around it.

A panoramic, pillar-free view

Most cases with a glass side panel still have a metal frame at the corner. ASUS says the A31 uses tempered glass on both the front-facing side and the side panel and removes the pillar between them, giving an unobstructed view of the components. Tempered glass is treated to be more resistant to impact than ordinary glass, but it is still glass and worth handling with care when you move the case.

BTF hidden connectors and cable management

BTF stands for "Back-To-Front", a design where the power and signal connectors sit on the back of the motherboard instead of the front. The A31 is built for that approach: ASUS says all modular cables are concealed behind the motherboard and line up with hidden connectors for a clean look. This only works with compatible motherboards and parts, so check that the components you plan to use support BTF connectors.

The case also has a dedicated cable cover and 34mm of space behind the motherboard tray, which gives room to route and tie down cables. ASUS adds that the modular cables are colour-matched to the case.

Cooling and the angled base

The A31 supports a 360mm all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler, which has a radiator three 120mm fans wide. ASUS says it allows up to 80mm of clearance for AIO coolers. Radiator thickness, fan thickness and mounting position all affect fit, so measure against your cooler's specification.

An 8° angled base tilts the whole case. ASUS says this angle improves airflow efficiency and widens the viewing angle, and that it makes ARGB lighting effects stand out. ARGB means addressable RGB lighting, where each LED can show its own colour.

Graphics card room

ASUS states that the A31 is compatible with large cards such as the RTX 5090 and 4090. Those cards are long and thick, so confirm the card's exact length and width against the case's clearance in the manual.

Size and weight

The case measures about 20.0 x 17.1 x 9.1 inches (51 x 43 x 23 cm) and weighs about 18.1 lb (8.2 kg) empty. A fully built system will be considerably heavier, so plan where it will sit.

Who it suits

It suits builders who want a showcase PC with a clean interior and a mainstream ATX layout. It is also a fit for anyone planning a liquid-cooled build with a 360mm radiator, or someone using BTF-compatible parts. Builders who want a fully sealed, quiet case may prefer a solid panel design, since glass shows everything.

What to check before you buy

  • Motherboard: confirm that it is ATX or a smaller size the case supports, and whether you want a BTF model.
  • Cooler: check the radiator size, thickness and mounting position against the case.
  • Graphics card: compare its length and thickness with the stated clearance.
  • Power supply: check that its size and cable type suit the case.
  • Dust and cleaning: glass shows fingerprints and dust, so plan for regular cleaning.
  • What's in the box: check the included fans, cables and accessories in the manual.

The short version

  • A black ATX mid-tower case with dual tempered glass and no pillar.
  • BTF hidden connectors, a cable cover and 34mm behind the motherboard tray.
  • Supports 360mm AIO liquid coolers with up to 80mm of clearance.
  • 8° angled base and ARGB lighting, with room for large graphics cards.
  • About 20.0 x 17.1 x 9.1 inches and 18.1 lb.
