The ASUS TUF Gaming ARGB Lighting Kit (model TLK-01, black) is an accessory for one specific case, the TUF Gaming GT502 Horizon. It adds a strip of programmable lighting around the perimeter of the case's panoramic glass. If you own that case and want more visual effect from the outside, this is what the kit does and how it works.

What it is and what it fits

The kit contains two outer-edge ARGB frames. ASUS says it is designed for the GT502 Horizon series, which has a panoramic glass front. It is not a general-purpose strip, so check that your case is the GT502 Horizon (or that ASUS names your variant) before ordering. A black version is described here, and ASUS says a white one is also available to match white builds.

What ARGB means

ARGB stands for addressable RGB. With ordinary RGB, a whole strip shows one colour at a time. With addressable lighting, each LED can be controlled separately, which allows effects such as colour waves, chases and gradients. ASUS describes the result as vibrant surrounding lighting around the glass.

Magnetic installation

ASUS says the frames use a magnetic design for easy installation. In general, that means the frames attach to the case without screws or adhesive, so they can be repositioned or removed more easily than stick-on strips. The listing does not describe the power connection, so check the manual for which header on the motherboard or controller it uses.

Aura Sync

The kit supports Aura Sync, ASUS's lighting-sync system. It lets compatible products, such as motherboards, graphics cards, coolers and memory, share colours and effects from one piece of software. ASUS says this covers a huge range of hardware. To use it, you would need compatible equipment and ASUS's software, and effect control depends on the parts in your PC.

Durability

ASUS lists a lifespan of up to 20,000 hours for the lighting. As a rough guide, that is over two years of continuous use, so for most builders it will outlast the rest of the system.

Dimensions

Listed dimensions are 9.5 x 18.3 x 2.6 inches, which likely describe the package.

Who it suits

It suits owners of the GT502 Horizon who like a lit build and want the case itself to match their other ARGB components. If you prefer a plain look, it may not add anything.

What to check before you buy

  • Case compatibility: confirm your case is the TUF Gaming GT502 Horizon series.
  • Colour: this listing is the black version.
  • Connections: check which header and power connection the kit needs and whether your motherboard has a spare one.
  • Sync software: confirm that your other parts work with Aura Sync.
  • Placement: check the manual for how the frames sit against the glass panel.
  • What's in the box: confirm cables and any controller the kit includes.

The short version

  • Two outer-edge ARGB frames for the TUF Gaming GT502 Horizon case.
  • Magnetic design for simple installation.
  • Aura Sync compatibility for coordinated lighting.
  • ASUS lists up to 20,000 hours of life.
  • Made for one case series, so check fit first.
