The VEVOR Canvas Bell Tent is a round, centre-pole tent 6 m (19.68 ft) across, built for family and group camping. VEVOR says it sleeps up to 10 people, and it includes a stove jack for heating. Here is what the materials and fittings mean for a trip.

Technical cotton fabric

The tent is made from TC (technical cotton), a polyester-cotton blend. Blended canvas is generally lighter and dries faster than pure cotton, and it breathes better than a coated synthetic, which helps reduce condensation inside. VEVOR notes that the fabric has no PU coating for better ventilation, and that this means it is suitable for light to moderate rain but not for use in heavy rain.

The brand also cautions that cotton gives limited insulation, so take care in extreme heat or cold. A canvas tent is more comfortable than a thin nylon one in many conditions, but it does not behave like a heated cabin.

Space and layout

With a 6 m diameter, the floor area is roughly 28 square metres. The listing says it holds up to 10 people. Ten people is the upper figure, and sleeping bags, bags and cots take space, so fewer people will have more room. The centre pole is the main structure, with a door pole, both described as galvanized iron. Bell tents typically have steep walls that give usable headroom well out toward the edges. The peak height is about 137.8 in (3.5 m).

Ventilation and the stove jack

Four mesh-covered windows provide airflow in warm weather, and the canvas and mesh panels roll up. For heating, the tent has a 5 in stove hole made of flame-resistant material, with a 43 x 43 cm flap. A stove jack lets a stove pipe pass through the tent wall without touching the fabric.

Using a stove inside any tent calls for care. Follow the stove maker's instructions, keep fabric and bedding well clear, and make sure the tent stays ventilated. Carbon monoxide is a standard concern with any combustion heating in an enclosed space.

Setting up

VEVOR describes setup as four steps. It supplies 14 nylon reflective ropes with 14 aluminum alloy tensioners, so each point can be adjusted and tightened. Reflective rope is easier to see in the dark, which helps avoid trips. A tent this size is easier to pitch with two people, and the ground should be level and clear of sharp objects.

What's in the bag

The package includes:

  • a rain cap;
  • ground stakes and a stake hammer;
  • a tent bag;
  • storage bags with handles.

The tent weighs about 89.7 lb (40.7 kg) and packs to roughly 236 x 236 x 138 in as listed for shipping dimensions, so it is a car-camping tent rather than one to carry on foot.

Who it suits

It suits families and groups who drive to a campsite, glamping-style set-ups that stay in place for several days, and hunting or outdoor party use where one large shared space matters. It is less suited to backpacking or to places with very strong wind and heavy rain.

What to check before you buy

  • Pitch size: a 6 m circle needs a flat area a little wider than the tent, plus space for the guy ropes.
  • Rain and weather: the fabric is uncoated, so check the forecast and the manual's advice on rain.
  • Heating: check that any stove you plan to use suits a 5 in stove hole, and follow the stove's instructions.
  • Transport: at nearly 90 lb, check you can load and carry it.
  • Care: canvas needs to be dried fully before storage to avoid mildew.
  • Campsite rules: some sites restrict stoves or tent size.

The short version

  • A 6 m round bell tent in technical cotton, listed for up to 10 people.
  • A 5 in stove jack, four mesh windows, and a galvanized iron centre and door pole.
  • 14 reflective ropes with aluminum tensioners, stakes, a hammer and a rain cap included.
  • Uncoated fabric: suitable for light to moderate rain only.
  • About 89.7 lb, so best for car camping.
