The VEVOR Oxford bell tent (model 121267) is a round, single-pole style tent with a 13.12 ft (4 m) diameter and a peak height of 8.2 ft. It is aimed at family camping, glamping, backyard use and outdoor events, and VEVOR says it holds 3 to 4 people. A stove jack is built in for use with a tent stove.

Space inside

The floor is a circle about 4 m across, and the 8.2 ft peak lets most adults stand near the centre. The sidewalls roll up or down, so the tent can be fully enclosed or turned into an open canopy in warm weather. Round tents use space differently from rectangular ones, as the headroom falls away towards the walls. Bedding is usually arranged around the edge, leaving the middle free.

Fabric, poles and weather

VEVOR uses 420D Oxford fabric, described as thickened, wear-resistant and waterproof, with reinforced stitching. The poles are galvanized metal, which resists deformation. A top rain cover and a PVC groundsheet are meant to keep out rain and ground moisture. Heavy-duty stakes and nylon guy lines are included for wind resistance.

VEVOR says to take the tent down in heavy rain, snow or strong winds, which is wise advice for any tent. A tent that is packed away damp should be dried out soon after, as the manual advises.

Airflow and the stove jack

For ventilation, there are mesh windows, top vents and an adjustable vent cover, plus roll-down curtains for wind protection. The stove jack is an opening for a stove flue, and the tent includes a silicone fire mat. VEVOR specifically notes that the vent cover should not be fully closed when a stove is in use. Any stove in a tent needs careful setup, with clearances, a suitable flue and a carbon monoxide alarm being standard advice. Follow the stove maker's instructions and the tent manual.

Setup and storage

VEVOR says two people can complete setup quickly. Storage bags are included. The tent weighs 43.2 lb (about 19.6 kg), so it suits car camping better than carrying on foot. Inside there are storage pockets and a lantern hook, and the detachable zipped floor can be removed for use as a canopy or for easier cleaning.

Who it suits

It suits families or groups who camp in one spot for several days, backyard hosts, and anyone planning outdoor events. It is less suited to backpacking or quick overnight stops, because of its weight and pack size.

What to check before you buy

  • Group size: 3 to 4 people is the listed capacity, so allow for bags and gear.
  • Site: you need a flat area about 4 m across, with room for guy lines.
  • Heating plans: if you will use a stove, confirm it is compatible with the stove jack, and follow safety instructions.
  • Transport: check that a 43.2 lb tent and poles fit your vehicle.
  • Weather: think about the season, wind exposure and drainage of your campsite.
  • Care: dry the tent fully before storage.
