The VEVOR 550 CFM Air Scrubber is a portable air-cleaning machine with three filter stages, designed for job sites and home repair work. It is often called a negative air machine, because it can pull air through its filters at a high rate. VEVOR says it is suited to painting, construction, remediation and restoration jobs as well as home use.

What 550 CFM means

CFM stands for cubic feet per minute, a measure of how much air passes through the machine. VEVOR lists a maximum of 550 CFM, adjustable, with a 15.5-inch intake and an 8.5-inch outlet, and a filtration area of 2150 cubic feet. A higher airflow cleans the air in a room faster. For a rough sense of scale, divide the room volume by the CFM to see how long a single pass of the air takes. Air-change targets for a given job vary, so check the guidance that applies to your work.

The three filter stages

The filters work in sequence:

  • Pre-filter (MERV-10): catches larger particles such as dust and protects the finer filters, which extends their life.
  • Carbon filter: designed to reduce odours.
  • H13 HEPA filter: VEVOR says it captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.

VEVOR says the combination clears dust, pollen, smoke and odours. The pre-filter typically needs replacing most often, since it takes the heaviest load.

Controls and protection

The control panel lets you adjust the airflow range, set a resettable timer and reset a circuit breaker that protects against overheating. An indicator light reminds you when it is time to change the filter. Replacing filters on schedule keeps airflow up, so check the manual for intervals and for how to handle used filters, especially after dusty or contaminated jobs.

Stacking and daisy-chaining

There are two auxiliary sockets on the panel, allowing you to daisy-chain up to three units for a combined 1650 CFM. That helps with larger spaces or heavy restoration work across several rooms. Check the manual for the wiring limits and circuit capacity before linking units. The design is stackable, so it can be stored in a corner when not in use.

Setup and portability

No assembly is needed. You plug it in and it is ready to use. VEVOR gives the weight as 35 lb and the size as roughly 24.2 x 23.5 x 15.9 inches. A foldable handle makes it manageable for one person to carry. The machine is not small, so measure the doorways and the space where it will sit.

Where it is used

VEVOR lists home painting, construction sites, sewage remediation, fire restoration and house repair. In practice, air scrubbers are common on renovation and cleanup jobs where dust or odours build up. Work involving hazardous materials has its own rules, and a general-purpose machine like this does not replace the required procedures or protective equipment.

Who it suits

It suits contractors, restoration crews and homeowners tackling large projects who want a portable machine to filter air in a work area. For ordinary day-to-day room air cleaning, a smaller purifier may be quieter and easier to place.

What to check before you buy

  • Room size: compare 550 CFM and the 2150 cubic feet filtration area with your space.
  • Noise: high-airflow machines are typically loud, so check where it will run.
  • Filter upkeep: know how often filters need replacing and where to get them.
  • Power: check the circuit before daisy-chaining several units.
  • Ducting: confirm whether you need to attach ducting to the intake or outlet.
  • Task rules: follow the manual and any local rules for the type of work you are doing.

The short version

  • A 550 CFM (adjustable) air scrubber with MERV-10, carbon and H13 HEPA stages.
  • Timer, overheat circuit breaker and filter-change indicator.
  • Daisy-chain up to three units for 1650 CFM; 35 lb with a foldable handle.
  • Built for renovation and restoration work; check the space, noise and filter upkeep first.
