The Roborock S8 Max Ultra is a robot vacuum and mop supplied with the RockDock Ultra, an all-in-one dock. The robot cleans, and the dock handles mop washing, drying, dust collection, water refilling and detergent. This page explains what the main specs mean and what to check for your home.
Suction and vibrating mops
Roborock rates the S8 Max Ultra at 8000Pa of suction. Pascals measure suction pressure, and a higher number generally means a better ability to lift fine dust and debris from carpet and crevices, although brush design matters too. For mopping, the robot uses dual vibration modules that scrub at 4000 times per minute, which Roborock says handles dust, dirt and dry stains.
Reaching corners and edges
The FlexiArm design extends the side brush so that it can reach into concave corners and under furniture, with Roborock claiming 100% coverage. The Extra Edge Mopping System works alongside it, and the brand gives its edge-cleaning precision as under 1.68mm. Robots with round bodies typically leave some corner dust, so features like these aim to narrow that gap.
What the RockDock Ultra does
According to Roborock, the dock:
- washes the mops automatically with hot water of up to 140°F;
- uses dirt detection to choose the washing time, and sends the robot back to heavily soiled spots;
- dries the mops with hot air, which typically helps prevent odours;
- dispenses detergent automatically, with one fill lasting over three months;
- collects dust, refills water and cleans itself.
Washing and drying mops after each run means they don't sit damp, and it saves you from rinsing them by hand.
Carpet handling
The mop module lifts 20mm automatically when the robot crosses carpet so the carpet stays dry. In the app you can choose to vacuum carpets first, run deep carpet cleaning or turn on carpet boost mode.
Navigation and the app
PreciSense LiDAR navigation builds a map of your home, while Reactive 3D Obstacle Avoidance uses 3D structured light to detect and avoid objects. In the Roborock app, SmartPlan picks cleaning intensity by area, Temporary Cleaning handles one-off requests, Pet Area Deep Cleaning targets spots where pets spend time, and Smart Suggestions propose no-go zones. The app also shows 3D maps.
Wi-Fi, power and size
The listing notes that it supports only 2.4G Wi-Fi and 100V-120V. The listed dimensions are 16.1 x 17.6 x 18.5 inches, and the weight is 31.8 lb, so the dock is a substantial piece of equipment.
Who it suits
It suits larger homes with a mix of hard floors and carpet where owners want little hands-on upkeep. It may also suit pet households, given the pet-area modes.
What to check before you buy
- Dock space: you need a spot near an outlet with clear room around the dock.
- Wi-Fi: confirm a 2.4 GHz network is available.
- Voltage: the listing states 100V-120V only.
- Carpet height: check your rugs against the 20mm mop lift.
- Under-furniture clearance: measure the gaps you want it to reach.
- Consumables: plan for detergent, filters, brushes, mops and dust bags, as the manual describes.
