Dreame L40 Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop: features, specs and who it suits

The Dreame L40 Ultra is a robot vacuum and mop with 11,000Pa suction, a liftable mop, hot-water mop washing, auto-empty and auto-refill. What the specs mean.

The Dreame L40 Ultra (model RLX53SE) is a robot vacuum and mop that comes with a base station. The station empties the dustbin, washes the mop and refills the water tank, so day-to-day cleaning needs little attention. This guide explains the main features and what to check for your home.

Suction and cleaning modes

Dreame lists 11,000Pa of suction with five suction levels. Pascals measure suction pressure, and higher numbers generally mean stronger pull on carpets and in crevices, though design, brush and sealing matter too. Lower levels suit hard floors and quieter running, with higher ones for carpets and pet hair.

The SideReach brush

The side brush lifts and extends to reach wall corners and furniture legs, where round robots often miss. Dreame says this helps remove dirt from such areas.

Mopping and carpet protection

The mop is removable and liftable. Dreame says the robot can raise the mop automatically by up to 10.5 mm when it crosses carpet, or you can remove the mop pads. In the Dreamehome app you can also set zones to avoid rugs, which reduces the chance of entanglement. The brand adds that the robot protects carpets from wet or dry mess while moving between carpet and hard floor.

For stubborn stains, Dreame describes OmniDirt detection and MopExtend RoboSwing technology, which finds messes and mops tight spaces such as under furniture and in corners.

Self-cleaning base station

  • Hot-water washing: the mop and washboard are cleaned together with 149°F (65°C) water, which Dreame says reduces stains and unpleasant smells. The app offers four temperature settings.
  • Auto-empty: the station draws dust from the robot's bin.
  • Auto-refill: the station fills the clean-water tank.

Base stations still need routine care: emptying dirty water, replacing dust bags and cleaning the washboard, as the manual describes.

The robot uses 3D structured light, a built-in camera and LED lights to navigate. In the Dreamehome app you choose cleaning modes, set pet zones and adjust mopping levels. Voice control is also supported. Pet zones can be set around litter areas or open spaces for animals.

Battery and coverage

The 5,200mAh battery gives up to 194 minutes of quiet sweeping and mopping, Dreame says, with 30% faster charging, and up to 181 m² (1,948 ft²) on one charge. Run times depend on the suction level and floor type. The app lets you schedule charging at off-peak hours.

Size

The station measures about 16 x 16 x 24 inches (41 x 41 x 61 cm) and weighs 29.8 lb (about 13.5 kg). Choose a spot with a nearby outlet, clear space around it and, for the water tanks, a surface that can take the weight.

Who it suits

It suits busy households with mixed floors, pet owners and larger homes that benefit from long run times. People with many thick rugs or cluttered floors should plan to tidy cables and small items first.

What to check before you buy

  • Floors: confirm that the mix of hard floor and carpet fits what the robot supports.
  • Thresholds: check door sills and rug edges against the robot's climbing ability.
  • Station location: it needs power, Wi-Fi and a spot close to a floor-level path.
  • Upkeep: plan for dust bags, filters, brushes and mop pads.
  • App and privacy: the robot uses a camera; read the app's privacy settings.
