The LEVOIT Vital 200S-P is a smart HEPA air purifier made for large rooms, open-plan living spaces and homes with pets. It combines a washable pre-filter, a main filter, an air quality monitor and app control in a compact tower. Here is what its specs mean and what to think about before choosing one.

What the room coverage figure means

LEVOIT says the Vital 200S-P covers rooms up to 1,878 square feet (about 174 m²). Coverage figures like this usually assume the air is cleaned several times an hour, and they are best read as an upper limit. In a smaller room such as a bedroom, the same machine can clean the air more often, so it can run at a lower speed.

CADR figures explained

CADR stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate, a standard measure from AHAM, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers. It reports how much filtered air a purifier delivers, in cubic feet per minute, for a given particle type. LEVOIT lists these CADR figures for the Vital 200S-P:

  • Smoke: 250 CFM
  • Dust: 254 CFM
  • Pollen: 289 CFM

A higher number means faster cleaning of that particle type. The unit carries the AHAM Verifide seal, which means the brand's performance claims were independently tested.

Filtration

LEVOIT states that the filter captures 99.97 percent of airborne particles from 0.1 to 0.3 microns, including pollen, dust and pet dander, as tested by an independent lab. That is the usual benchmark for true HEPA-grade filtration. A washable pre-filter catches larger debris such as pet hair first, which helps protect the main filter.

Air intake design

The purifier has a traditional air inlet plus an extra U-shaped inlet. LEVOIT says this helps trap airborne pet hair and odours without clogging.

Sleep mode, light sensor and schedules

In Auto Mode, the fan speed adjusts to air quality, and the brand says the filter stays HEPA-grade in Sleep Mode. A light sensor dims the display to suit the room, and you can switch that off in the VeSync app. Schedules let you set start and end times and choose a mode, such as Pet, Auto or Sleep, for each period.

App control

The free VeSync app controls settings, sets timers, shows filter life and connects to third-party voice assistants.

Size

It measures 15.6 x 8.5 x 19.8 inches (about 40 x 22 x 50 cm) and weighs 13.2 lb (about 6 kg), so it is easy to move between rooms.

Who it suits

It suits larger living areas, households with pets and anyone who wants a purifier that adjusts itself and can be scheduled.

What to check before you buy

  • Room size: compare the coverage figure with your space and ceiling height.
  • Placement: leave open space around the unit for airflow.
  • Replacement filters: check how often the filter needs replacing and that you can obtain genuine ones.
  • Noise: consider fan sound at higher speeds if it will run in a bedroom.
  • Wi-Fi and app: confirm your phone and network are compatible with VeSync.
