The Levoit Eleva 300X is a smart HEPA air purifier designed for bedrooms. It measures fine particles in the air, filters them through a sealed HEPA system and an activated carbon filter, and connects to the VeSync app. This overview explains what its numbers mean and how to judge whether it fits your room.
Three particle sizes on one sensor
The 3-in-1 sensor measures PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 and shows the air quality in real time. PM stands for particulate matter, and the number is the particle size in microns (micrometres). PM10 includes coarser particles such as dust, PM2.5 finer particles such as those in smoke, and PM1.0 the finest of all. Many purifiers sense PM2.5 only; tracking all three sizes gives a broader picture of what is in the air.
What 161 CFM CADR means
CADR (clean air delivery rate) is a standardised measure of how much filtered air a purifier delivers, in cubic feet per minute (CFM). The Eleva 300X has a CADR of 161 CFM, about 270 cubic metres per hour. A long-standing AHAM rule of thumb is a CADR of at least two-thirds of the room's floor area in square feet, assuming an 8 ft ceiling, which points to rooms of up to roughly 240 sq ft (about 22 m²) for this model. Room-coverage figures vary with the number of air changes per hour they assume, so CADR is the most comparable number.
Levoit says the fully sealed HEPA system captures 99.97% of allergens down to 0.3 microns. "Sealed" means air cannot slip around the edges of the filter. The 0.3-micron size is the classic HEPA benchmark because particles around that size are the hardest for this kind of filter to catch. The filtration is third-party certified by AHAM Verifide, the verification programme of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, and recognised by ECARF.
Two filters, replaced separately
Levoit's DuoShield design separates the HEPA filter from the activated carbon filter, so each is replaced on its own. HEPA catches particles; activated carbon adsorbs odours and some gases, which HEPA alone does not. The carbon filter can be swapped for Smoke & Cooking, Pet or Premium versions for more targeted odour and gas control.
Levoit lists up to two years of main filter life, based on the GB/T 18801 test to a 50% decline in CADR, with 12 hours a day on the maximum fan speed. Real filter life depends on your air and on how many hours the purifier runs.
Sleep Mode and the display
In Sleep Mode it runs at 20 dB, and the screen turns off by itself (this can be disabled in the app). A light sensor adjusts the screen brightness to the room. In a bedroom, noise and display light at night are often the details that matter most; higher fan speeds are typically louder than the Sleep Mode figure.
App control and power use
In the VeSync app you can check the air quality index (AQI), choose modes, set schedules and timers, and track filter life. The app also offers AI-based insights that take your activities and the outdoor air into account. The purifier works with Alexa and Google Assistant. Average power use is 7.5 W, and Levoit lists ENERGY STAR 3.0 certification.
Who it suits
The Eleva 300X suits bedrooms and similar-sized rooms where you want to see particle levels in real time, run a quiet mode at night with the screen dark, and control the purifier from a phone or by voice.
What to check before you buy
- Room size: compare the 161 CFM CADR with your room's floor area and ceiling height.
- Filters: check the availability of replacement HEPA filters and of the carbon filter type you want.
- Placement: it measures 9.4 x 9.4 x 15.1 inches (about 24 x 24 x 38 cm) and weighs 7.7 lb; leave space around it as the manual advises.
- Noise: 20 dB is the Sleep Mode figure; higher speeds are louder.
- App and voice control: confirm that your phone and assistant work with VeSync.
