Invigorated Water PH001 Replacement Filter for Alkaline Pitchers: what it fits

The Invigorated Water PH001 is a replacement filter cartridge for the brand's alkaline water pitchers. When the filter in your pitcher reaches the end of its rated life, this is the part you swap in. The listing says it is designed to fit the pH RESTORE, pH REFRESH and pH RECHARGE models.

What is inside the filter

Invigorated Water describes a multi-stage filter. Two micronets are there to catch particles such as sand, silt and rust, while allowing minerals like calcium and magnesium to pass through. Between them sit several kinds of media:

• Coconut shell activated carbon, which the brand says is made in the US. Activated carbon is widely used in water filters to reduce chemical taste and odour.
• KDF media, a copper-zinc material that the brand says removes chlorine and certain metals.
• A blend of more than ten stones and materials, including ORP spheres, tourmaline, far infrared and Maifan stones. The brand says these raise the water's pH, lower its ORP, soften hard water and add trace minerals.

These are the brand's claims about the filter, and results vary with the water you start with.

Capacity and filter life

The filter is rated for 360 litres, which the brand also lists as 96 gallons or 1,500 cups. Invigorated Water adds that each filter replaces 768 plastic bottles. Your replacement interval depends on how much water you filter and on your tap water, so it helps to note the date you fit each one.

Materials and size

The brand says the filter is BPA-free and food-grade certified by SGS, and that it is a member of the Water Quality Association. It measures about 3.3 x 3.3 x 4.3 inches (roughly 8 x 8 x 11 cm) and weighs 1.5 lb.

Who it suits

It is for owners of a compatible Invigorated Water pitcher who need a fresh cartridge. It is a part rather than a stand-alone product, and the listing does not describe it as fitting other brands.

What to check before you buy

• Compatibility: confirm your pitcher is one of the pH RESTORE, pH REFRESH or pH RECHARGE models.
• Existing filter type: some of the brand's pitchers use a pouch-style filter instead; check your manual.
• Setup: follow the instructions on rinsing a new filter before first use.
• Replacement timing: keep track of how much water you filter.
• What's in the box: check the quantity supplied, as the brand also sells multi-packs.
