The ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 Omni (model OZMOX2M) is a robot vacuum and mop that comes with the Omni station. The station empties the dust bin, washes the mops with hot water, refills the water tank and dries the mops, so most of the routine upkeep is handled by the dock.

What the Omni station does

According to ECOVACS, the station self-empties into a large dust bag that holds up to 90 days of dust. It washes the mops with 131°F (55°C) hot water, refills the robot's built-in tank with clean water, enough to cover up to 4,300 sq ft (400 sq m), and dries the mop with hot air after use to help prevent odours. Check the manual on how often the water tanks and bag need attention.

Suction and the brush

The robot offers 8000Pa suction. Pascals measure suction pressure, and higher numbers typically mean more pull, though brush design and floor type also matter. A longer 200mm rubber main brush is meant to reduce hair tangling, which suits homes with pets or long hair.

Mopping system

The OZMO Turbo 2.0 system uses dual rotating mops. ECOVACS lists a 25,000 RPM motor, a steady 6N mopping pressure and 180 rotations per minute, which it describes as imitating the movement of a hand. When the robot detects a carpet it can lift the mop by 15mm and increase suction, so rugs aren't mopped.

A dual-laser LiDAR sensor detects objects up to 10 metres away across a 210-degree angle, and builds 3D maps used for planning routes. ECOVACS says the AIVI 3D 2.0 avoidance system uses AI to react to moving objects and half-open doors in bright or dark rooms. The robot is described as flatter than older LiDAR designs so it can reach under beds and sofas. Check the height against your furniture.

Voice and camera

The YIKO 2.0 voice assistant is built in, so ECOVACS says it needs no separate smart-speaker connection. A Starlight Camera provides a live camera view and two-way calls, and the brand says the product carries a privacy protection certification. Decide whether a camera moving around your home suits you, and read the privacy settings.

Who it suits

It suits households with a mix of hard floors and carpet, pets, or a wish to reduce routine upkeep. It is less obviously suited to small spaces with little room for the station. Its dimensions with the station are about 17.4 x 15.5 x 20.7 inches.

What to check before you buy

  • Floor types: confirm the mop-lifting feature suits your carpets and rugs.
  • Station space: find a spot near an outlet with room around the dock.
  • Furniture clearance: compare the robot's height with the space under your furniture.
  • Camera: read the privacy settings and consider where it will roam.
  • Upkeep: dust bag, mop pads, brushes and filters will need replacing over time.
  • Wi-Fi: confirm your network and the app requirements.
