The ECOVACS DEEBOT T30S AI is a robot vacuum and mop that comes with the OMNI station, a base that empties the dustbin, refills the water tank and washes and dries the mop. It aims to cut down the routine work of hard-floor and carpet cleaning. This page covers what its specifications mean and what to consider before choosing one.

What 11,000Pa suction means

Pascals (Pa) measure suction pressure. ECOVACS rates this model at 11,000Pa. Figures like this are useful for comparing robots from the same brand, but they are measured under the manufacturer's own conditions and do not translate directly into cleaning results on every floor. In general, higher suction helps most on carpet and for pulling debris from cracks.

Edges, stains and mopping

TruEdge Adaptive Edge Mopping uses a hovering arm and software to follow edges and corners, which ECOVACS says reaches 1mm accuracy and 99% coverage in hard-to-reach areas. AI Instant Re-mop is meant to recognise noticeable stains, raise the water flow and go over that spot three times, adjusting the pattern to the stain's size.

Tangle control for hair

ZeroTangle is ECOVACS's name for its brush design and technology, intended to keep human and pet hair from wrapping around the main brush. Even so, brushes usually still need an occasional check and clean, so read the maintenance section of the manual.

The OMNI station

The base does several jobs. Per the brand, it supports mop washing with 158°F (70°C) hot water, self-emptying of the dustbin, automatic water refilling and hot-air drying. Hot-air drying typically helps keep a damp mop from developing odours between runs. The station is the biggest part of the package: the whole unit measures about 15.5 x 17.4 x 20.7 inches and weighs 18.1 lb, so you need a spot against a wall with room around it.

The AIVI 3D system uses object recognition to avoid items on the floor, and TrueMapping 2.0 builds a map of your home. The brand says this reduces the risk of getting stuck or bumping furniture. Cables, socks and pet waste are classic hazards for any robot vacuum, so it still helps to clear the floor first.

Battery and control

A 6,400mAh battery gives up to 180 minutes of runtime, and ECOVACS says charging is 40% faster than the previous version. You can start it with the voice command "OK YIKO", Alexa, a smartphone app, widgets, Apple Watch and Dynamic Island, or a foot touch.

For pet owners, ECOVACS lists real-time video and audio, pet detection, snapshots and a patrol function. Because this involves a camera inside the home, check the app's privacy settings.

Who it suits

It suits households that want regular vacuuming and mopping with little handling, including homes with mixed floors, pets or large floor areas.

What to check before you buy

  • Floors: confirm the robot suits your mix of hard floors and carpet, and check how it treats rugs.
  • Space: measure the station's footprint and the clearance under furniture.
  • Consumables: check dust bags, mop pads, filters and how replacements are obtained.
  • Water: confirm how the tank and station are filled and drained.
  • Smart features: check app, voice assistant and camera settings meet your preferences.
  • Wi-Fi: the robot needs a stable signal across the areas it cleans.
