The ECOVACS DEEBOT N20 PLUS is a robot vacuum and mop that comes with a bagless self-emptying station. It maps your home with a laser sensor, cleans on a schedule from an app, and empties itself into the station, so you handle the dust container only occasionally.

The bagless self-emptying station

Most self-emptying robot vacuums use disposable dust bags in their stations. ECOVACS designed this one around a consumable-free dust container, so no bags need replacing. The brand says the station can hold debris for up to 45 days, depending on how much your home produces. You still need to empty the container when it's full, and check the manual for the interval.

What 8000Pa suction means

Pascals (Pa) measure suction pressure, and a higher number generally means more pulling force at the nozzle. ECOVACS rates the N20 PLUS at 8000Pa. Real results depend on the brush, the floor and the airflow, and a higher figure helps on carpet and with pet hair. The robot also has a mopping function, with adjustable water flow in the app.

Filtration and tangle control

ECOVACS PureCyclone technology and a four-stage filtration system separate dust from the airflow, and the brand quotes a 95% dust separation rate. ZeroTangle technology is designed to keep human and pet hair from wrapping around the main brush, which reduces the time you spend cutting hair off it. The brand positions the robot for homes with pets.

TrueMapping uses laser radar to scan the home and plan systematic paths, and ECOVACS says a first map takes about eight minutes. Laser mapping typically works in low light as well. Carpet detection sensors help it adjust at floor transitions, and high-traction wheels climb thresholds up to 20 mm.

Runtime and app control

The listed runtime is 300 minutes, which suits larger homes where one charge needs to cover plenty of floor. The ECOVACS HOME app lets you change suction, water flow and cleaning modes, and set schedules.

Size

The robot with its station measures about 14.1 x 17.8 x 15.0 inches (36 x 45 x 38 cm) and weighs 18.1 lb (about 8.2 kg).

Who it suits

It suits households with pets or busy schedules that want hands-off daily cleaning, and homes with mixed hard floors and low-pile carpet.

What to check before you buy

  • Floors and thresholds: the 20 mm climbing figure is a maximum; check your door thresholds and rugs.
  • Station space: it needs a spot against a wall with clear space around it and a nearby outlet.
  • Mopping: read the manual about which floors suit mopping, and keep it off delicate surfaces and carpet.
  • Cables and small items: pick up cords and socks before a run.
  • Upkeep: brushes, filters and the mop pad need regular cleaning and, in time, replacement.
  • Wi-Fi: app control needs a home network.

The short version

  • 8000Pa suction, PureCyclone with four-stage filtration, ZeroTangle brush.
  • Laser TrueMapping; climbs 20 mm thresholds.
  • 300-minute runtime and ECOVACS HOME app control.
