The REDTIGER F9 Lite is a small front-facing dash cam that records in 4K and hides neatly behind the mirror. It adds WiFi for phone control, GPS for location and speed, and driver-assistance alerts. Here is what those features mean and what to check before fitting one.

What 4K at 30 frames per second gives you

REDTIGER lists the resolution as 3840 x 2160 at 30 frames per second. More pixels typically mean more detail when you pause a clip, which can help when you want to read a number plate or a road sign. Frame rate matters too: 30 fps is a common standard for dash cams and is smooth enough for most driving footage. Real-world clarity also depends on the lens, the lighting and the windshield, so treat the headline figure as a ceiling.

The listing also mentions night vision, which on dash cams generally refers to how the sensor and processing handle low light.

Phone control with WiFi and the app

Built-in WiFi lets you connect the camera to your phone through the REDTIGER app. The brand says you can change settings, view a live image and access footage that way. In general, this saves removing the memory card to check a clip, and it is useful for aiming the camera when you fit it.

GPS and what gets recorded

The GPS feature records location and speed alongside the footage. REDTIGER says this gives extra context for recordings. Check your local rules on whether and how you may use recordings, and on mounting position, before relying on them.

Driver-assistance alerts (ADAS)

The listing names forward collision warning, a start-from-stop alert when the car ahead moves, and lane departure voice alerts. These are prompts, not a replacement for attention, and their accuracy depends on the camera's angle and the road. Most ADAS dash cams need a calibration step at setup, so follow the manual.

Loop recording, G-sensor and parking modes

A 32GB memory card comes with it. With loop recording, the camera overwrites the oldest footage when the card is full, so it records continuously without manual clearing. The G-sensor detects a sudden impact and typically locks the current clip so it isn't overwritten.

There are two 24-hour parking modes, and REDTIGER notes that an extra hardwire kit is needed. A hardwire kit connects the camera to the car's fuse box, usually with a voltage cut-off to protect the car battery. Check the manual and your vehicle's fuse layout, or use a qualified installer.

Design: screenless and compact

The F9 Lite has no screen. REDTIGER says this reduces distraction and heat build-up. It also has a built-in supercapacitor rather than a battery; supercapacitors are generally considered better suited to hot and cold cabins than lithium batteries. The brand gives an 18-month warranty. At about 0.5 lb and roughly 3.5 x 2.2 inches, it takes little space on the glass.

Who it suits

It suits drivers who want a discreet front camera with high resolution, phone control and optional parking recording. It records the front view only, so anyone wanting a rear or cabin view would need a second camera.

What to check before you buy

  • Windshield fit: check where the camera will sit so it doesn't block your view, and that it's legal where you drive.
  • Parking mode: confirm you are happy to fit a hardwire kit, which is sold separately.
  • Memory card: check what card sizes and speeds it supports if you want more storage.
  • Phone compatibility: check the app's requirements for your phone.
  • Power: confirm the cable length reaches from the socket or fuse box.
  • Privacy rules: check local rules on recording in and around vehicles.

The short version

  • Compact screenless front dash cam recording 4K at 30 fps.
  • Built-in WiFi, GPS, G-sensor and phone app control.
  • ADAS: forward collision, start-from-stop and lane departure alerts.
  • Loop recording with a 32GB card; two 24-hour parking modes need a hardwire kit.
  • Supercapacitor and an 18-month warranty.
