The REDTIGER F7N Pro is a dual-channel dash cam: a front camera records in 4K and a rear camera records in 1080P. It keeps a record of what happens around your car, which can help clarify events after a collision. A 64GB memory card comes in the box.

Front and rear recording

The front camera records at 4K (3840 x 2160) and the rear at 1080P, both at once. REDTIGER says this captures detail such as licence plates and street signs. The viewing angles are 170 degrees at the front and 140 degrees at the rear, which the brand says reduces blind spots. Resolution helps, but readable plates also depend on distance, light and speed.

Night vision and image quality

The front camera uses a STARVIS 2 image sensor with WDR and HDR processing. Sony's STARVIS sensors are designed for low-light performance, and WDR/HDR balance bright and dark areas in one frame. REDTIGER adds F1.5 and F1.8 apertures and a six-layer lens, a lower F-number meaning more light reaches the sensor. The brand says processing also reduces glare and distortion.

GPS and WiFi

Built-in GPS records location, speed and route with the footage. WiFi connects the camera to the REDTIGER app on Android and iOS for control and sharing clips, for example with an insurer. REDTIGER also lists over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates.

Loop recording and G-sensor

When the card fills, loop recording overwrites the oldest files so recording never stops. A G-sensor detects sudden impacts and locks that footage so it won't be overwritten. The camera supports cards up to 256GB.

Parking monitor

In parking mode, the G-sensor can trigger a 15-second locked recording, and a time-lapse mode can record for 24 hours at a low frame rate and low power. REDTIGER states that a hardware kit is needed for this, so it isn't ready out of the box.

Screen and mounting

A 3.18 inch IPS screen shows the picture. The adhesive GPS mount rotates 180 degrees and has a slide-cover design for installing and removing the camera. REDTIGER offers an 18-month warranty and customer support. The unit is about 0.8 x 1.3 x 3.8 inches in the listing's dimensions and weighs 1.4 lb.

Who it suits

It suits drivers who want front and rear coverage with GPS data and app access, and are happy to wire in a hardware kit for parking mode.

What to check before you buy

  • Hardware kit: parking monitoring needs a separate kit, and a fitting suited to your vehicle.
  • Placement: check the windscreen position so it doesn't block your view, and follow local rules on mounting.
  • Rear camera cable: plan the cable route to the back window.
  • Storage: 4K files are large, so consider the card size and how often you copy clips.
  • Privacy rules: check local rules on recording video and sharing it.
