The Auxbeam 12-inch light bar is a compact dual-colour LED bar for trucks, Jeeps, ATVs, UTVs, SUVs and golf carts. It combines a white driving beam with an amber one, and it has six lighting modes, so a single bar can act as a driving light, a fog light or a warning light. Here is what the specs mean.

White and amber beams

The white side runs at 6500K, a cool daylight-like colour temperature, and Auxbeam describes it as a concentrated spot beam. The amber side runs at 2000K, a warm tone that the brand pairs with a wider flood beam to light both sides of the road. Amber is commonly chosen for fog, dust and snow, where white light can scatter back toward the driver. The bar uses 3030 SMD LED chips with a dual reflective cup design, which Auxbeam says is made for off-road lighting.

The six modes

Auxbeam lists these modes, and the bar remembers the last one used:

  1. White driving or spot light.
  2. Amber fog or flood light.
  3. White and amber spot-flood combo.
  4. White flashing.
  5. Amber flashing.
  6. White and amber synchronised strobe.

Flashing and strobing lights are typically for off-road, work-site or emergency-type uses. Rules on their use differ by region, so check local law before using them anywhere public.

Build, cooling and sealing

The housing is 6063 aluminum with thickened heat sinks. Auxbeam says this provides overheat protection and fast cooling, and that the lifespan is more than 50,000 hours, a manufacturer's estimate. The bar is sealed to IP68, which in general means it is sealed against dust and immersion. Auxbeam says every unit is inspected and tested (burn-in, waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and corrosion-proof) before it leaves the factory. Built-in EMC is meant to reduce electromagnetic noise, which can otherwise interfere with radios.

Installation

The bar comes with a multimode wiring harness and mounting kit. It works on DC 9-32V systems, which covers common 12V and 24V vehicles. Auxbeam lists mounting positions including the roof rack, A-pillar, front windshield, bumper, grille guard or rear trunk. At 12.6 inches long, it is small enough for spots where a long bar will not fit. Follow the manual for wiring and fusing.

Who it suits

It suits owners of trucks, off-road vehicles and utility vehicles who want one compact auxiliary light with both white and amber output, and who want to switch between uses without extra hardware.

What to check before you buy

  • Mounting spot: check the space and mounting surface where the bar will go.
  • Voltage: confirm that your vehicle runs on 9-32V DC.
  • Local rules: auxiliary lights are typically for off-road use. Check local law and the manual.
  • Modes you need: confirm that the six modes cover what you want.
  • What's included: the listing says one bar, one harness, a mounting kit and accessories. Auxbeam gives a 24-month guarantee.
