The VEVOR Z1Z-CF03-80S is an electric diamond core drill for cutting round holes through concrete, brick, stone and similar materials. Instead of grinding away the whole hole, a core bit cuts a ring and leaves a solid plug, which is quicker and cleaner for larger holes such as those needed for pipes, vents and cables. VEVOR rates this machine for holes up to 8 inches (200 mm).

Motor and speed settings

The motor is rated at 1800W with two speeds: 1,075 RPM and 2,300 RPM. In general, larger bits run at lower speeds and smaller bits at higher speeds, so a two-speed machine lets you match the speed to the bit. The output shaft has a 1/4-7 inch threaded connection, and VEVOR describes the shaft as steel.

Wet and dry drilling

The machine supports both wet and dry drilling. In wet drilling, water is fed to the bit to cool it and flush out debris. VEVOR says this reduces dust and gives a smoother hole, which suits indoor renovation work. Dry drilling needs no water supply but produces dust and heat. Diamond bits are generally designed for one approach or the other, so check how the bits in your kit are meant to be used.

The listing describes a water-seal-free design that avoids common seal failures. It also names a reinforced PVC water hose that VEVOR says resists cracking.

Clutch

A built-in clutch stops the drill automatically when it meets hard resistance, which VEVOR says protects both the user and the machine. In core drilling, a bit can jam on reinforcement bars, and a clutch limits the twisting force passed to the operator.

Body and weight

The body is aluminium, which the brand describes as lightweight and tough. The machine weighs 55.1 lb (about 25 kg) and measures 31.7 x 14.4 x 8.3 inches (about 81 x 37 x 21 cm). It is a drill rig, not a handheld drill, so expect to set it up before use.

What is in the kit

Four diamond core bits are included, in 1, 2, 3 and 4 inch sizes. VEVOR says they cut reinforced concrete, brick, marble and more. For holes larger than 4 inches, you would need additional bits that fit the shaft, up to the 8-inch maximum.

Who it suits

It suits renovators, plumbers, electricians and builders who need clean, round openings in masonry. For occasional small holes, a hammer drill with a masonry bit may be enough.

What to check before you buy

  • Hole size: confirm the diameters you need, and whether you need bits beyond the four included.
  • Water supply: plan how you will feed and drain water for wet drilling.
  • Power: check the outlet and cable for an 1800W tool, and keep water away from connections.
  • Mounting: see how the rig is held steady on your wall or floor.
  • Hidden services: locate rebar, pipes and wires first.
  • Protection: follow the manual's guidance on eye, hearing and dust protection.
