The VEVOR TIG/MMA 205 is a compact inverter welder rated at 205 amps. It covers three jobs in one box: DC TIG, DC pulse TIG and MMA (stick) welding. It runs from either 110V or 220V, so it can work in a home garage as well as at a larger workshop or on a farm.

Three welding modes

DC TIG uses a tungsten electrode and a separate filler rod, with shielding gas protecting the weld. It gives fine control and neat beads, and it is a common choice for thin material and visible joints. DC pulse TIG alternates between a high and low current, which, in general, helps control heat input on thinner metal. MMA, also called stick welding, uses a coated electrode and needs no gas, which makes it handy outdoors and for repairs. VEVOR says the unit supports E7018 and E6013 electrodes.

TIG welding needs a gas supply and a torch setup, so check what is in the box and what you will need to add.

What it can weld

According to VEVOR, the machine suits carbon steel, copper, stainless steel and titanium. Suitable settings and technique vary a lot between those metals, and the manual is the place to look for current ranges.

High-frequency start

The machine uses a high-frequency, non-contact arc start. Instead of scratching the tungsten on the work, which can contaminate it, a high-frequency signal starts the arc without touching the metal. VEVOR says this gives smooth and quick ignition and reduces failed starts.

Dual voltage, display and protections

The machine takes 110V and 220V input. Output capability generally depends on the supply, so compare the figures in the manual for each voltage with your outlet's circuit capacity. A large LED display shows the settings so you can read them at a glance.

VEVOR lists VRD (a voltage reducing device that lowers open-circuit voltage), overcurrent, overvoltage, overload and overheat protection.

Size and weight

The listing gives dimensions of about 15.3 by 6.3 by 12.2 inches. Its feature text quotes a weight of 18.6 lb (8.45 kg), while the listing's data shows 20.4 lb, so expect roughly 19 to 20 lb. Either way, it is light enough to carry between work sites.

Who it suits

VEVOR positions it for home DIY projects, garage work, outdoor repairs, and maintaining farm and road equipment. Someone who wants one machine for TIG and stick welding, on ordinary household supply, is the target reader.

What to check before you buy

  • Power supply: check your circuit and outlet against the machine's input requirements at 110V and 220V.
  • Gas and torch: TIG needs shielding gas, a regulator and a torch; see what is included.
  • Metals and thickness: compare your usual work with the amperage the machine can deliver at your supply voltage.
  • Consumables: you will need tungsten, filler rods and stick electrodes.
  • Protective gear: a proper welding helmet, gloves and ventilation are essential.
  • Duty cycle: look in the manual for how long it can weld before resting.
  • Follow the manual and local codes for electrical connections.
