ARCCAPTAIN iControl TIG 205 Pro: 5-in-1 TIG and Stick welder explained

The ARCCAPTAIN TIG 205 Pro is a 205-amp, 110V/220V DC TIG and Stick welder with app control, an LED display and foot-pedal support. What its modes and specs mean.

The ARCCAPTAIN iControl TIG 205 Pro is a 205-amp welding machine that handles DC TIG and Stick welding and runs on 110V or 220V power. It is positioned for garage work, farm repairs, crafts and home DIY. This guide explains its modes, controls and the things to check before choosing a welder.

Five modes in one machine

ARCCAPTAIN lists five processes: Cold TIG, 4T DC TIG, Cold Spot TIG, 2T DC TIG and Stick. DC TIG uses a tungsten electrode and, typically, shielding gas, and is known for neat, precise welds on thin metal. Stick uses a flux-coated electrode, which makes it a common choice for outdoor or rougher jobs.

The 2T and 4T settings describe torch trigger behaviour. In 2T, the arc runs while you hold the trigger. In 4T, you press and release to start and again to stop, which can be easier on the hand during long welds. The brand also lists Cold TIG and Cold Spot TIG modes, which it presents for low-heat work on sheet metal and bodywork.

App control

ARCCAPTAIN calls this the first app-controlled TIG welder. You scan a QR code on the machine to connect a phone, and the app supports several devices. The brand lists real-time status monitoring, process selection, parameter adjustment, error-code analysis, FAQs and sharing of welding results.

Display and foot pedal

A large LED display shows the settings so they can be read without lifting your helmet. The machine is compatible with the ARCCAPTAIN 5-pin TIG foot pedal and the WP-17 TIG torch, which lets you vary current with your foot and keep both hands free. The foot pedal and cold welding helmet are not included.

Arc starting and control

ARCCAPTAIN says an internal MCU gives a 99.99% arc initiation success rate and a 400% faster arc-start response. It also describes smooth starts, stable current, little spatter and automatic adaptation to cable length. These are brand figures, and results depend on setup, materials and technique. Hot start, arc force and anti-stick, all listed on the machine, are standard Stick-welding aids that help strike the arc, keep it stable and prevent the electrode from welding to the work.

Materials

The brand says the welder performs well on steel, stainless steel and chrome-moly steel. As is usual for DC-only TIG machines, it is not aimed at aluminium, which generally needs AC output. Check the specifications if that matters to you.

Protection and certification

ARCCAPTAIN lists a voltage reduction device (VRD), plus overheat, overcurrent and undervoltage protection, a custom airflow design to keep metal dust away from the control unit, and testing to ANSI/FCC standards. A 3-year warranty and lifetime technical support are also listed.

Who it suits

It suits hobbyists, home workshops and small repair jobs who want TIG and Stick in a single machine. People with only a 110V outlet can still use it, though output on lower voltage is typically limited compared with 220V.

What to check before you buy

  • Power supply: confirm your outlet and breaker match the voltage and current needs, and follow local electrical codes and the manual.
  • Gas and accessories: TIG welding needs a gas supply, regulator and tungsten; confirm what is included.
  • Foot pedal and helmet: both are sold separately.
  • Metals: check that your materials suit DC TIG and Stick.
  • Safety gear: welding needs proper eye, skin and ventilation protection as the manual describes.
  • Skills: TIG takes practice; consider a course if you are new.
