VEVOR S3020 CNC Router: features, specs and who it suits
The VEVOR S3020 is a desktop 3-axis CNC router with a 120W spindle, GRBL control and a 300 x 200 x 60 mm working area. What the specs mean and what to know first.

The VEVOR S3020 is a compact desktop CNC router for engraving, carving and light milling. A computer-controlled spindle moves along three axes to cut a design into soft and medium-hard materials, so small projects like signs, panels and templates can be repeated accurately instead of being done by hand.
What the 300 x 200 x 60 mm working area allows
VEVOR gives the effective working area as 300 x 200 x 60 mm (11.8 x 7.87 x 2.36 in). The first two numbers are how far the cutter can travel across the bed. The 60 mm is the vertical travel, which limits how thick a workpiece can be and how deep a cut can go.
That's enough for name plates, small decorative panels, phone stands and many hobby parts. Larger pieces need to be split into sections or cut on a bigger machine. The listing says the machine works on bamboo, wood, leather, plastic, foam, vinyl, acrylic, MDF and PVC.
The 120W spindle and 10,000 RPM
The spindle is the motor that spins the cutting tool. At 120W, this one is a light-duty unit, and the listing gives its speed as 10,000 RPM. Spindles at this power level typically suit shallow passes in soft material rather than heavy cuts in hardwood or metal.
VEVOR warns that harder materials need different tools, speeds and depths, and that cutting too fast or too deep can cause the path to drift, the machine to stall or the motor to overheat. Plan on test cuts in scrap before committing to a finished piece.
GRBL control and the offline controller
The router uses GRBL, a widely used open-source motion-control firmware for small CNC machines. It reads G-code, the line-by-line instructions that tell the machine where to move. Many free and paid programs can export G-code for GRBL machines.
The machine also has a 2.4-inch touchscreen offline controller with a knob for adjusting the spindle. With it, a saved job can run without a computer connected. You still need a computer to prepare the toolpaths first.
Aluminium frame and assembly
The frame is industrial-grade aluminium alloy with a surface oxidation (anodised-style) treatment. VEVOR says this keeps it light yet stiff, and that it absorbs vibration and resists deformation, which helps engraving precision. Rigidity matters on any CNC machine, because flex shows up as rough edges and inaccurate dimensions.
VEVOR says over 70% of the parts are pre-assembled. You join three main parts, the offline controller, the gantry frame and the base, then plug in the power cord. The machine is about 17.5 x 16.1 x 12.0 in (roughly 44 x 41 x 30 cm) and weighs 18.7 lb (about 8.5 kg), so it fits on a sturdy workbench.
This is not a plug-and-play machine
The listing is clear that this is not an out-of-the-box product. You need some knowledge of CNC programming, and the software that creates the toolpaths isn't included and may need to be bought separately. VEVOR provides only test boards and matching test programmes.
Who it suits
It suits hobbyists, makers and students who want to learn CNC work on a small machine, and anyone making small signs, engravings or prototypes in soft materials. It's not aimed at people who want to start cutting right away without learning the software side, or who need to machine metal.
What to check before you buy
- Software: choose and confirm the design (CAD) and toolpath (CAM) programs you'll use, and that they output GRBL-compatible G-code.
- Materials and tools: confirm your materials suit a 120W spindle, and check which cutters and bits you'll need.
- Size: compare the 300 x 200 x 60 mm area with your biggest planned project.
- Workspace: allow a stable bench, power outlet and a way to handle dust and chips.
- Safety gear: plan on eye and ear protection, and follow the manual.
- Computer: check what connection and operating system the control software needs.
The short version
- A desktop 3-axis CNC router with GRBL control and a 120W, 10,000 RPM spindle.
- Working area of 300 x 200 x 60 mm (11.8 x 7.87 x 2.36 in).
- Aluminium alloy frame, mostly pre-assembled, 18.7 lb.
- 2.4-inch touchscreen offline controller with a knob.
- Needs CNC programming knowledge; programming software isn't included.
