The Sundpey RMWRH003 is a 21V cordless impact wrench kit with a brushless motor and a 1/2-inch drive. It comes with two batteries, a charger, sockets, drill bits and a carrying case, so it is a ready-to-use set for loosening and tightening bolts and nuts around a car, workshop or home.

What an impact wrench does

An impact tool delivers short, rapid rotational blows as well as steady turning. That hammering action breaks stubborn fasteners free with much less effort than a plain drill. The 1/2-inch square drive takes standard 1/2-inch impact sockets.

Torque figures

The listing is not consistent in its numbers. The title gives 480 ft-lbs (650 N·m), while a feature line says maximum torque is 803 N·m (592 ft-lbs). Sundpey describes the tool as suited to automotive repair, furniture and mechanical maintenance and drilling. Peak "breakaway" torque is a different measure from the torque the tool applies when tightening, and brands usually don't explain which one a number refers to. Check the manual and confirm the figures with the brand if torque matters for your job.

Brushless motor

Brushless motors replace carbon brushes with electronic control. Sundpey says this gives more power, quieter operation and longer service life. In general, brushless tools also run cooler and waste less battery energy than brushed ones.

Speed and modes

There are three speed settings with a stated maximum of 3,200 RPM. A switch selects forward, reverse and a lock mode. A 1/4-inch hex quick-release chuck lets you change accessories without tools, so the tool can also be used with hex-shank drill bits.

Batteries and protection

The kit has two 4.0Ah lithium batteries, so one can charge while the other works. A built-in power indicator shows the charge level. Sundpey says a 60A motor protection system and a 55A battery overload protection stop the tool when the limit is exceeded, and that you resume by reinstalling the battery.

What's in the box

  • 1/2-inch impact wrench
  • 2 x 4.0Ah lithium batteries
  • Fast charger
  • 6 sockets and 9 drill bits
  • 2 pins and 2 O-rings
  • Tool case

Using it safely

Wear eye protection, use impact-rated sockets, and don't use an impact wrench to tighten fasteners that have a specified torque unless the instructions say so. Follow the manual.

Who it suits

It suits DIYers and home mechanics who want a cordless alternative for jobs such as changing a wheel, undoing rusted bolts or general repair work. Frequent heavy use may call for a tool rated for it by its maker.

What to check before you buy

  • Torque needs: compare the figures with the fasteners you work on, and note the listing's two torque values.
  • Sockets: confirm the sizes in the set match your nuts and bolts.
  • Battery platform: the batteries are specific to this tool.
  • Weight and fit: check dimensions and grip comfort for your hands, as the listing gives none.
  • Upkeep: keep batteries charged and stored as the manual advises.
