The VEVOR JMB-X3 is a hand-operated button maker that turns paper or printed artwork into pin-back badges in three sizes. It is a craft press for families, classrooms and small hobby projects, supplied with a starter set of parts so you can begin making badges straight away.

How a button maker works

A badge is built from layers: a metal or plastic back, your artwork, a clear film on top and a metal cover. The press squeezes these together so the cover's edge curls over and locks the layers in place. Most machines use a lower die to hold the parts and an upper die that presses down with the handle. The JMB-X3 handles this in a single machine for three sizes, so you don't need a separate press for each.

Three sizes in one machine

VEVOR says the machine makes 25 mm (about 1 inch), 32 mm (1.25 inch) and 58 mm (2.28 inch) badges. Besides pin buttons, the brand lists mirrors, keychains, bottle openers and fridge magnets as things you can make, though the parts for those may differ from the pin-back set in the box. The kit has 50 each of iron and plastic bottom pieces in the three sizes, giving a choice of backing material.

Handle and alignment

The press has an ergonomic arc handle. VEVOR says it is designed to give the right pressure with less effort and to improve the success rate, and that the body is high-strength ABS plastic. The die has alignment scales to help centre the artwork. The brand says no installation is needed, so it is ready to use out of the box.

What comes in the kit

The brand lists the contents as:

  • 50 each of iron and plastic bottom pieces in 25, 32 and 58 mm sizes
  • 100 tin covers in each size
  • 20 blank circle papers in each size
  • 100 transparent films in each size
  • 1 circle cutter, 2 hex wrenches and 2 gaskets
  • 1 user manual

The listing notes that the green gaskets should be added when using the 58 mm metal bottom part. It also includes a "Mr. Panda" book with colourful panda patterns to cut out, black and white patterns to colour and blank pages for your own designs.

Who it suits

It suits parents and teachers running craft sessions, people making party favours, club or event badges, and hobbyists who want to try badge making. It is a manual press, so it fits small batches rather than production runs of thousands. Regular makers will use up the supplied parts and need to buy refills in the right sizes.

What to check before you buy

  • Sizes: confirm that 25, 32 and 58 mm are the sizes you need.
  • Refills: check that replacement parts for your chosen size are easy to get and will fit this machine.
  • Artwork: plan how you will print and cut circles; the supplied circle cutter helps with this.
  • Supervision: the press has pinch points, so younger children should be supervised.
  • Work surface: it needs a firm bench or table for pressing.
