The VEVOR 2000FT Green is a self-leveling rotary laser level supplied as a kit with a tripod, a grade rod, a detector and a remote control. A rotary laser spins a beam through 360° to mark a level plane around a site, which saves a lot of time on grading, foundations, fence lines, floors and ceilings compared with a spirit level and string.

How a rotary laser works

The unit sits on a tripod and projects a beam that sweeps around as it rotates. Anywhere that beam lands is at the same height. You then check heights with the staff, or with the detector, which senses the beam when it is too faint to see. VEVOR says the level self-levels within a tolerance of ±5°, and also allows manual alignment. Self-leveling means that once it is roughly set up, it adjusts itself to true level.

Why green, and what Class 2 means

The laser is listed as Class 2 (IEC/EN 60825-1:2014) with output under 5 mW. Green beams are typically easier for the eye to see than red ones at the same power, especially in daylight. The kit includes a detector and a pair of glasses for use at longer distances or in bright light. Follow the manual's guidance on laser use and never look into the beam.

Rotation speeds and scan angles

VEVOR lists variable rotation speeds of 0, 60, 120, 300 and 600 rpm. Slower speeds are easier to see directly; faster speeds make the line look continuous and suit work with a detector. Directional scanning is also provided, with scan angles of 0°, 10°, 45°, 90° and 180°. A narrow scan concentrates the beam into a bright arc in one direction, which helps when you only need to work along one wall or line.

What the 2,000 ft range means

The listing gives a working distance of 2,000 ft. With rotary lasers, that figure normally refers to the radius or range when using a detector in good conditions, and the visible range with the naked eye is much shorter. Check the manual for how the range is measured.

Kit contents, power and build

The kit includes an extendable stand, a five-section grade rod, the detector, glasses, a remote control (operating from up to 65 ft) and a carrying case. The laser mounts on a 5/8" thread, which is a common tripod standard. It runs on four 1.2V NiMH rechargeable batteries, which VEVOR says run for 8-12 hours per charge, and a charger is included. The housing is listed as IP66, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against strong water jets. The kit ships in three packages, which may arrive separately.

Who it suits

It suits contractors, landscapers and keen DIYers doing larger levelling jobs: setting footings, checking slab heights, marking out decks, fitting drop ceilings, or laying out drainage falls.

What to check before you buy

  • Typical range: think about how far you'll work, and whether you'll rely on the detector.
  • Light conditions: bright outdoor sun is easier with the detector.
  • Staff units: confirm the grade rod's markings match your plans (feet or metric).
  • Calibration: check the manual on testing accuracy and what to do if the unit is knocked.
  • Batteries: plan for charging time and a spare charge on long days.
  • Eye protection and rules: follow the manual and any site laser policies.

The short version
