The VEVOR D30-14VA is a small electric water heater with an 8-gallon (about 30 litre) tank. It is made to sit under a sink, on a shelf or on a wall, and to supply hot water close to where it is used. That avoids waiting for hot water to travel from a distant main heater, which VEVOR says also saves water.
What a mini-tank heater does
A mini-tank unit stores a small volume of water and keeps it hot. It is usually used as a point-of-use heater for a kitchen sink, a bathroom basin, a workshop or a small commercial kitchen, rather than for a whole house. VEVOR lists cooking, dishwashing and laundry as typical uses, and says it can supply two sinks at the same time.
Power, heating time and temperature
The heater is rated at 1440W. VEVOR says it can heat the water within 8 to 15 minutes of use and deliver hot water continuously over 24 hours, up to a maximum of 145°F (62.8°C). The temperature is adjusted with a knob, and LED lights show the water temperature. Heating times depend on the incoming water temperature, so treat the quoted range as a guide.
Tank and insulation
The inner tank is made from 310S stainless steel, which VEVOR describes as corrosion-resistant. A polyurethane insulation layer is built in to keep the water warm, which in general means less energy is needed to hold the temperature. The unit measures about 18.1 x 18.1 x 15.2 inches (46 x 46 x 39 cm) and weighs 28.3 lb (12.8 kg) empty, so a full tank weighs considerably more. The support you choose should account for that.
Safety valve
A temperature and pressure safety valve sits on top of the heater. VEVOR says it, together with other safety features, helps protect against scalding and leaks. Water heaters of this kind are normally expected to have a relief valve because heating water in a closed tank raises the pressure.
Installation options
The heater can be installed vertically or horizontally, and mounted on a shelf, a wall or the floor, with the inlet and outlet facing upwards. VEVOR says installation follows the step-by-step instructions. As with any appliance that involves plumbing and mains electricity, follow the manual and your local codes, and use a qualified plumber or electrician if you are unsure.
What to check before you buy
- Confirm your electrical supply and circuit suit a 1440W appliance, and that the plug or wiring matches your outlet.
- Check you have space for the 18.1 x 18.1 x 15.2 inch body and room for the pipes and valve.
- Make sure the shelf or wall mount can carry the weight of the unit when full.
- Decide whether 8 gallons is enough for your use; mini-tanks supply a limited amount before they need time to reheat.
- Check the drain, pipe fittings and valve discharge route required by local codes.
- Look at what is included in the box and read the manual before starting.
