The VEVOR 9926 is a 7-amp belt sander that takes 3 x 21 inch belts and can be used in the hand or clamped to a bench. It is aimed at woodworking and DIY jobs such as trimming, shaping and refinishing furniture. This page explains what its main specs mean and what to check first.

What a 3 x 21 belt sander does

A belt sander runs a loop of abrasive around two rollers. The 3 x 21 size, meaning a belt 3 inches wide and 21 inches long, is a common one for compact sanders, so replacement belts are generally easy to find in that size. Belt sanders remove material faster than most other sanders, which makes them good for levelling boards, taking off old finish and rounding edges. They are less suited to fine finishing unless you step up through finer grits.

Motor and speed control

VEVOR specifies a 7A motor. Amps tell you how much current the motor draws, and in general a higher figure points to more available power for sustained work. The sander has six speeds between 630 and 1200 FPM (feet per minute, the speed of the belt surface). VEVOR suggests the low settings for detailed sanding and the high settings for removing rough surfaces faster.

Lower speeds are typically gentler on softer woods and on finishes that could burn or melt, while higher speeds suit heavy stock removal.

Handheld or benchtop

The 2-in-1 design is the main feature. Used by hand, the sander moves across the workpiece. With the two included clamps it is fastened to a work surface and held still, so you bring the workpiece to the belt. That suits small parts, edges and shaping jobs, and VEVOR says it can reduce operating fatigue. Make sure the clamps are tight and that the bench you use is stable, as the manual describes.

Ten belts in five grits

The kit includes ten sanding belts: two each of 40, 60, 80, 120 and 180 grit. Lower numbers are coarser. A typical sequence starts with 40 or 60 grit to remove material, moves to 80 or 120 to smooth, and finishes with 180. Skipping more than one step tends to leave scratches the next grit struggles to remove.

Dust collection

Two dust collection bags come in the box, and VEVOR also includes a vacuum adapter so the sander can connect to a vacuum cleaner. Sanding creates a lot of fine dust, so connecting a vacuum typically keeps the workspace cleaner than a bag alone. Wear the protective equipment the manual recommends.

Size and weight

The sander measures about 12.3 x 5.7 x 5.9 inches (31 x 14.5 x 15 cm) and weighs 8.8 lb (about 4 kg). That is a moderate weight for a sander you hold, and it helps to keep the pressure light and let the belt do the work.

What to check before you buy

  • Belt size: it uses 3 x 21 inch belts; check that you can source more in the grits you use.
  • Power: confirm the outlet and any extension cord suit a 7A tool.
  • Bench use: check that your bench can take the two clamps.
  • Dust: decide whether you will connect a vacuum, and check the adapter fits your hose.
  • Materials: the listing focuses on woodworking, so check the manual before using it on other materials.
  • What's in the box: the belts, bags, clamps and adapter listed above.
