The VEVOR 50KV Powder Coating System is a kit for coating metal parts with dry powder instead of liquid paint. It includes a control unit, an electrostatic spray gun, a foot switch, powder cups and nozzles. It is intended for hobby projects and light commercial work, such as wheels, brackets, furniture frames and fences.
How electrostatic powder coating works
The gun gives the powder particles an electric charge as they leave the nozzle. The workpiece is grounded, so the charged powder is drawn to it and clings to the surface, including edges and corners. The part is then heated in an oven until the powder melts and cures into a hard film. The kit covers the spraying stage only; you also need a curing oven, a grounding setup and powder.
What 50KV means
VEVOR rates the output at 50KV, with five adjustable steps: 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50KV. In general, a higher voltage pulls powder more strongly onto a part, while lower voltage can help with deep recesses or fine detail, where too much charge can push powder away from corners. Having steps lets you adjust for different shapes. VEVOR says the coating resists cracking, scratching and wear, and that it is more durable than liquid coatings.
Foot switch and button
You can start and stop the gun with either a foot pedal or a button on the unit. A foot switch frees up both hands, so you can hold the workpiece or move around it without bending to reach the control.
Two bottles and nozzles
The kit includes two powder bottles with nozzles. Each bottle is dedicated to one colour, so you can swap between colours without cleaning the cup out each time. This reduces the chance of mixed colours, though you should still clean the gun between powders, as the manual describes.
Where it is used
VEVOR lists metals, automotive parts, furniture, construction materials, fences and pipes as suitable applications, and says the coating helps protect metal from corrosion. It mentions use in auto repair shops, shipyards, home DIY and garden projects. A carrying handle makes it easier to move between work areas.
Size and weight
The kit measures about 11.8 x 11.8 x 4.7 inches (30 x 30 x 12 cm) and weighs 6.6 lb (about 3 kg), so it stores easily on a shelf.
Who it suits
It suits hobbyists restoring metal parts, small fabricators and repair businesses that want to do finishing in-house. If you only coat the odd small item, check whether a local coating service would suit better than buying an oven and equipment.
What to check before you buy
- Curing oven: powder needs to be baked at the temperature in the powder maker's instructions; confirm you have a suitable oven that isn't used for food.
- Grounding: a good ground connection is essential for powder to attach.
- Powder: buy powder made for electrostatic guns, and check the colour and finish.
- Compressed air: powder guns typically need a clean, dry air supply; check what the manual requires.
- Work area: powder is fine dust, so plan for ventilation, a suitable mask and eye protection, and follow the manual and local rules.
- Part size: confirm your parts fit your oven.
