The VEVOR 5 in 1 Heat Press is a 15 x 15 inch heat press supplied with four extra attachments, so one machine can handle flat items, caps, mugs and plates. It is aimed at DIY crafters and small custom-print businesses who want to transfer designs onto a mix of products instead of only shirts.

What the five parts are

The kit has the main 15 x 15 inch press plus four attachments:

  • a 6 x 3 inch cap press;
  • a 3.5 inch mug press;
  • an 8 inch plate press;
  • a 10 inch plate press.

VEVOR says the set suits shirts, hoodies, banners, mugs, hats, plates, tiles, mouse pads and other flat items, on materials such as ceramics, glass, cotton, linen and nylon. As with any heat transfer, the item and the transfer paper or film both need to be suited to heat pressing, so check the transfer supplier's advice.

Heating plate and temperature control

The heating plate uses what VEVOR calls double pipe fast-heating technology, with two layers of insulation pads. VEVOR says this spreads heat quickly and evenly and holds temperature about 50% better than ordinary presses. That is the brand's own comparison. What matters in practice is even heat from edge to edge, because cool spots tend to leave patchy transfers.

Controls use silver alloy electrical contacts and sensors that VEVOR rates as 50% more sensitive than conventional ones. The range is 30-410°F (0-210°C), and the display can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The timer runs from 0 to 999 seconds and sounds an audible alert when the countdown ends. The listing gives the power as 1200W at 110V.

Cover and swing-away arm

VEVOR says the top cover is made from a composite material that brings its surface temperature down to about 120°F and resists scratching. The arm swings away and rotates 360° on a reinforced aluminium swivel, which VEVOR says has 28% more corrosion resistance than a regular metal swivel. Swinging the heated element aside means you can lay out the item and transfer without reaching under hot metal. The design also allows parts to be inspected and cleaned.

Even with these features, a heat press at working temperature is a burn hazard. Follow the manual and keep the area clear.

Size

The listing gives the dimensions as 20.4 x 15.7 x 15.0 inches (about 52 x 40 x 38 cm), so allow a sturdy workbench with room for the arm to swing round.

Who it suits

It suits crafters and small shops that make personalised shirts, mugs, caps and plates and would rather own one machine than several single-purpose ones. If you only press shirts, the attachments may sit unused.

What to check before you buy

  • Attachment sizes: check that your mugs, caps and plates match the sizes listed (3.5 inch mug, 6 x 3 inch cap, 8 and 10 inch plates).
  • Transfer materials: confirm that your sublimation or vinyl products suit the items and the 30-410°F range.
  • Blanks: mugs and plates normally need sublimation-ready coatings to take a design.
  • Power: it runs on 110V at 1200W, so check your outlet.
  • Workspace: leave room for the 360° swing and for storing the attachments.
  • Learning curve: each item type has its own time, temperature and pressure settings.
