The VEVOR 5-in-1 heat press, model TLM13135, is a larger clamshell-style press with a 12 x 15 inch platen and extra attachments for hats, mugs and plates. It is aimed at people who want to move beyond a handful of T-shirts and press a wider range of blanks from one machine.

Five uses from one machine

The "5-in-1" refers to the main flat platen plus attachments. VEVOR lists T-shirts, pillowcases, caps, mugs, phone cases, pet collars, ceramic plates and holiday ornaments as things it can decorate. The specifications give these sizes:

  • Platen: 12 x 15 inches (about 29-30 x 38 cm)
  • Hat press: 5 x 3 x 1 inches
  • Cup press: 4.5 inches tall and 3.22 inches in diameter
  • Plate presses: 5 inch and 6 inch diameters

Check which attachments suit the blanks you buy; mugs, caps and plates vary in shape and size.

Heating and temperature range

The machine runs at 900W on 120V. VEVOR says its newer, thicker heating tubes retain heat better and reduce temperature differences across the plate, which matters because uneven heat can leave patches of a transfer that haven't fully bonded. The platen has a Teflon-coated surface that helps stop patterns sticking and avoids accidental burning, according to the brand.

The temperature range is 200 to 450°F (93 to 232°C), and the timer runs from 0 to 999 seconds. These ranges cover the settings many iron-on vinyl and sublimation products call for, but always follow the instructions for your own transfer material.

Controls and pressure

Temperature and time appear on two separate digital screens, with a Fahrenheit/Celsius display, so you don't need to switch between readings. The pressure knob lets you adjust clamping force for thin T-shirts or thicker material. The long arm handle has a non-slip rubber grip.

Swing-away design

The upper heated head swings aside, so you can lay out and smooth the garment without your hand under the hot plate, then swing it back over and press. VEVOR describes the swing-away aluminium rod as helping to guard against burns. It also rotates 360°, which can save bench space compared with a clamshell that lifts straight up. Even so, keep the area around the machine clear when it is hot.

Size and weight

The product measures about 19.3 x 15.3 x 15.7 inches (49 x 39 x 40 cm). The item data lists 35 lb, while the specification gives a net weight of 39.7 lb (18 kg). Either way, it is heavy enough to want a permanent spot on a sturdy table. The package includes two insulation sponge pads, a hex wrench, a set of screws and a manual.

Who it suits

It suits hobbyists scaling up, small print businesses starting out, and anyone doing gifts, team kit or custom mugs and caps. For occasional small crafts, a compact press may be enough.

What to check before you buy

  • Space and weight: make sure you have a firm table and room for the swing arm.
  • Power: confirm a 120V outlet and that the circuit suits a 900W load.
  • Attachments: check the hat, mug and plate sizes against the items you plan to press.
  • Materials: use transfer papers and blanks rated for the temperature and time.
  • Assembly: the box includes a wrench and screws, so expect some setup.

The short version

  • A 900W, 12 x 15 inch swing-away heat press with hat, mug and plate attachments.
  • Temperature 200-450°F (93-232°C); timer 0-999 seconds.
  • Dual digital displays and an adjustable pressure knob.
  • Teflon-coated platen and a non-slip long arm handle.
  • Roughly 35-40 lb, so plan a permanent bench spot.
