The VEVOR 34-inch vinyl cutter is a floor-standing cutting plotter for making signs, decals and heat-transfer designs. Instead of printing, it drives a small blade along a path from your design file and cuts the outline into a roll of vinyl, leaving you to peel away the waste. It is aimed at small sign shops, hobbyists and anyone who needs wide cuts.
How a vinyl plotter works
A computer sends a vector design to the cutter. A knife holder moves across the width while rollers feed the material back and forth, tracing the shape. The blade cuts the vinyl but not its backing, so you weed out the excess and leave the design on the carrier sheet, ready to apply with transfer tape. VEVOR describes the process as cutting away the unneeded medium and leaving the contour of your design.
Size and cutting area
VEVOR gives a maximum paper feed width of 34.3 inches (870 mm) and a maximum cutting width of 30.7 inches (780 mm). The cutter's blade can't reach the material's edges where the rollers grip, so the cutting width is always narrower than the material width. The unit stands on a high-quality aluminum alloy floor stand with four caster wheels, so it can be moved around a workshop. With the stand it measures about 43.3 x 20.5 x 41.7 inches and weighs 47 lb (about 21 kg).
Precision, speed and pressure
VEVOR says the steel roller shaft, which replaces a traditional aluminum shaft, keeps its accuracy without deviating over a feed of up to 400 inches (10 m). Other rated figures are:
- Cutting pressure: 10 to 500 g
- Cutting speed: 10 to 800 mm/s
- Blade accuracy: 0.01 mm (0.0004 in)
Pressure and speed settings matter in practice. Thin, soft vinyl needs lower pressure; thicker or reflective materials typically need more. Most users run test cuts on a scrap when changing materials.
Connections and software
The cutter connects to a computer by USB or COM cable, and VEVOR lists Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 (32 and 64 bit) as supported systems. Bluetooth is listed for control from an Android mobile device. Software arrives either on an installation CD with an activation code or as a printed download address and code on a magnet, and VEVOR says the method is provided randomly. An illuminated LCD and a large control panel handle on-machine settings.
What's in the kit
The listing includes five vinyl rolls (black, white, red, blue and yellow), a utility knife, a ball pen core, holders and three replaceable blades. Internal fuses are described as reducing the chance of injury. Typical uses named are advertising engraving, heat transfer, wall decoration and plate making.
Who it suits
It suits sign makers, craft businesses, small print shops and makers who work with wide rolls and would otherwise cut by hand or in a narrower plotter. Someone making occasional small stickers may not need a 34-inch machine.
What to check before you buy
- Software and operating system: confirm the listed Windows versions work with your computer, and check the Bluetooth note, which refers to Android.
- Space: with the stand, it needs a clear floor area plus room for the vinyl roll to feed.
- Materials: confirm the pressure range covers the vinyl, film or paper you plan to use.
- Blades: check which blade types are included and the cost-free way to source spares from the manual.
- Weeding and transfer: you will need tools and transfer tape for finishing.
- Power and setup: follow the manual on assembly, grounding and power.
