The VEVOR 30oz Mug Heat Press is a machine for transferring printed designs onto mugs and tumblers by sublimation. It suits crafters who want to put photos, patterns or names on ceramic mugs, stainless steel tumblers and similar cups. Here is how it works and what its figures mean.
How sublimation transfer works
In sublimation, a design is printed on special transfer paper with sublimation ink. The paper is wrapped around a cup and heated, and the ink turns into a gas and bonds with a polymer-coated surface. Cups usually need to be made or coated for sublimation, so check that your blanks are suitable. VEVOR says the press suits cups made of ceramic, stainless steel and glass.
Size range
VEVOR says the press covers cups from 11oz to 30oz, with a cup diameter of 2.87 to 3.42 inches (7.3 to 8.7 cm) and a maximum height of 9.8 inches (25 cm). It describes the design as covering the cup's surface fully, and says it can press two 11-15oz straight mugs or cups at once. The 30oz capacity covers straight and skinny tumblers.
Heating element and liner
The heating element is rated at 620W. VEVOR says the silica-gel and iron construction heats faster and gives a better transfer. A soft silica-gel heating liner wraps around the cup; VEVOR says it also reduces unpleasant smells. The temperature range runs from 0 to 410°F (up to 210°C), and the time range is 0 to 999 seconds.
Knob control
The controls sit in an LCD panel with a single knob. Turn right to set the temperature, turn left to set the time. An alarm sounds when the cycle is done. Typical sublimation settings depend on the blank and the ink, so follow the instructions that came with your cups and paper.
Safeguards
VEVOR describes a double-control circuit that monitors temperature in real time and adjusts automatically, to reduce abnormal temperature swings, plus an automatic shutdown function. Heat-resistant gloves and heat-resistant tape come with it. As with any heat press, the cup and the heater get very hot, so follow the manual and let things cool before handling.
Colour and size
The press comes in black or orange, with the same function; VEVOR says the colour is delivered at random. It measures about 11.5 x 12.3 x 10.1 inches (29 x 31 x 26 cm).
Who it suits
It suits hobbyists, gift makers and small craft sellers who want to personalise cups at a bench. It is a single-purpose tool, so it makes sense if you will press mugs and tumblers regularly.
