The VEVOR 2-in-1 heat press is a digital swing-away machine for transferring designs onto T-shirts, hats and other items. It has a 15 x 15 inch flat platen for garments and a smaller curved platen for caps. VEVOR lists sublimation, vinyl and heat transfer among its uses.

What a heat press does

A heat press holds a transfer against a surface under steady heat and pressure for a set time. Sublimation turns special ink into gas that bonds with polyester-coated or polyester fabric, while heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is a plastic film that adheres to the fabric with heat. Both depend on correct temperature, time and pressure, so the controls matter.

Two platens in one machine

The flat platen is 15 x 15 inches, a common size that covers a standard shirt front. The curved cap platen is 6 x 3 inches, shaped to fit the curve of a hat. VEVOR says both heating pads use silica gel and sponge for quick heating and an even transfer, with a soft liner to accommodate different materials and cut down unpleasant smells while running.

Digital controls and alarm

A control panel lets you set temperature and time. When the timer finishes, the machine sounds an alarm to remind you to take the item out. Check the manual for the supported temperature and time range, since the listing does not give one.

Teflon coating

The platen has a Teflon coating. VEVOR says it lowers surface temperature to feel more pleasant on the skin, reduces the risk of scratching, and lessens the chance of clothes sticking to the platen. Heat presses are still hot enough to burn, so follow the manual's safety advice.

360-degree swing-away design

The heat platen can swing 360 degrees away from the lower base. This keeps the heating element out of the way as you lay out a garment and position the transfer, which lowers the chance of touching a hot surface by accident. A non-slip rubber grip makes pressing more comfortable. VEVOR adds that the mat should be adjusted snugly to the material for the best transfer.

What you can make

VEVOR lists T-shirts, pillows, bags, phone cases, caps and hats, with materials such as cotton, cloth, HTV, ceramics, glass, fabrics, flax, fibre and nylon. In general, each combination of transfer and surface has its own temperature and time needs, and items such as ceramics usually require special coated blanks and often a different press. Follow the instructions of your transfer paper or vinyl.

Size and weight

The machine measures about 15 x 15 x 15 inches (38 cm each way) and weighs 25 lb (about 11.3 kg), so it needs a sturdy table and a permanent spot. It plugs into a household outlet, and the manual covers the power details.

Who it suits

It suits hobbyists making gifts, small craft sellers and anyone starting a custom apparel project. It is a good size for shirts and hats, though larger designs would need a bigger press.

What to check before you buy

  • Design size: make sure your transfers fit within 15 x 15 inches.
  • Workspace: allow room for the swing-away arm and a heat-safe table.
  • Materials: check your fabric or blank suits the heat and pressure.
  • Consumables: transfer paper, inks and vinyl are separate purchases.
  • Safety: keep children and pets away from the hot platen.
  • Power: check the outlet and manual specifications.
