The VEVOR 1515QCP11 is a 15 x 15 inch digital heat press with a slide-out drawer. A heat press applies heat and pressure to transfer a design onto fabric or another surface, and this model is aimed at hobbyists and small businesses making shirts, pillows, bags and similar items. Here is what its specs mean.
How heat transfer works
Most transfer materials, such as heat transfer vinyl or printed transfer paper, carry an adhesive that activates at a set temperature. The press supplies that temperature, plus pressure, for a set time. Getting all three right, as the transfer material's maker specifies, is what gives a clean result that lasts through washing.
The slide-out drawer
Rather than a clamshell that swings up and over, this press has a drawer that pulls out. VEVOR says the design keeps you away from the heating plate while it runs, and gives more room to lay out and remove items. After pressing, you can take the finished piece out of the drawer without reaching under a hot plate. Even so, treat the plate as hot, and follow the manual.
Digital temperature and time
You set the temperature and time on a digital display:
- Temperature: 32-480°F (0-250°C), switchable between °C and °F with the up and down buttons.
- Time: 0-999 seconds.
VEVOR says that once the preset temperature is reached, the machine automatically stops heating and sounds an alarm, intended to prevent overheating. Different materials need different settings, so presets from your transfer supplier are useful.
Dual insulation
VEVOR lists dual insulation, with a two-layer insulating cotton. It says the outer surface of the press stays at 50-70°C even when the working temperature is above 210°C, compared with 70-100°C for traditional shirt irons. In general, better insulation helps keep heat in the plate, which helps stable temperature during a transfer.
What you can press
The 15 x 15 inch plate suits designs up to about that size. VEVOR lists shirts, hoodies, pants, pillows, bags, table mats and tiles. For hard items such as tiles, check that the transfer material is made for them, and that the item can handle the heat and pressure.
Size and weight
The press measures 15.3 x 24.0 x 13.3 inches and weighs 18.7 lb (about 8.5 kg). The drawer needs room to slide out, so allow some bench space in front of it. The version listed here is pink.
Who it suits
It suits crafters and beginners making shirts and gifts at home, and small businesses printing short runs. VEVOR describes the process as set, press, remove, which keeps it simple for a first-time user.
